Also since I decided to stay on a relative whim I wasn't really prepared to meet them and didn't really talk to them much, I was just sort of dumb-founded I am so glad you said that, I was totally the same! I looked up and Shirley was right in front of me, yet I was one of the last to get her attention because I was too gobsmacked to speak up! Thankfully, I had had the foresight to write down what I wanted to tell her on the back of my e-ticket, so I just gave her the piece of paper. Of course, I doubt very much that she actually read it, since she was juggling flowers and a pen while trying to get on the mini-bus, but hey, if i hadn't given it to her, there's no chance she would have read it! Like you, if I am lucky enough to get a second chance at meeting the band, I am definitely going to work on Being More Articulate and Not Just Standing There With A Dopey Grin!

Ohhh I have always wanted to know if the SG dress was knitted or cotton. It looks knitted - I am so going to try to reproduce it!

I am wondering if it is being released in Europe only ahead of a European tour, like the 'Absolute Collection' was released here

I'd really love it if they came and said 'thanks' to everyone on my page, rather than thanking me personally. After all, it really is everyone's book, not just mine. I'm just the person putting it together.

Anyone can get involved. I have deliberately allowed until 10 May so that US and Mexican fans can contribute. I'd really like it to be as 'global' as possible. I've written a note regarding submissions on the Garbage Australia page; basically saying that it doesn't matter if you haven't seen the band live at all, just that you are prepared to take a few minutes out of your day to tell them that you support them I'm not expecting any response from the band, but if I get one, I'll be sure to share it!

Garbage Australia is putting together a book for the band entitled "We are just your kind of people", sharing our stories, photographs, tour memories or just general appreciation for the band and what they do for us. You can submit anything you like (as long as it can be printed on standard A4 pages) as many times as you like. Submissions can be made via Facebook message to www.facebook.com/GarbageAustralia, or by email to garbageaustralia@gmail.comSubmissions will be open until 10 May 2013, after which I will collate the book and send it to the band's management (who are aware this little project is underway). Don't miss out on your chance to be involved in something that will be truly epic!

Hey guys, if you haven't already done so, please purchase the Absolute Collection from JB Hifi (Aust/NZ). This is different from Absolute Garbage in that it includes some songs off NYKOP. Even though we all own copies of the songs on this album a million times over, I think it's important we purchase this compilation because it is released through Stunvolume (well, Liberator) so a greater percentage of money made will go to the band. If you are overseas and would like a copy and can't get it from the JB Hifi or Liberator Music websites, please 'like' my Garbage Australia page, and send me a PM and I will go to JB and purchase a copy on your behalf and then send it to you - you will only pay for the CD and postage. o wow, NLY live *drools*
Maybe then we'd learn what the lyrics at the end are!
You know, for all BG has copped flack for being 'different' to the other records, IMO it contains Shirley's best lyrical work (NLY, Parade, COC).
Just from the interviews I am reading, it seems that the "rock" of BLM was something the record company asked for? Or am I just sleep deprived?

Does anyone know the snail mail address for the band? I have got all of 5 likes on my garbage Australia page, enough to tell me that people are out there. Anyway, I am going to go ahead with designing some promo cards and sending them to the band, but I can't find a postal address anywhere. Does anyone know what it is? Otherwise I will just pester Liberator for it

Oh god I am soooo jealous! Damn effing uni seminar. And damn effing me for thinking it wouldn't be worth flying up at 8pm to attend the venue.
I am especially shattered because I would love to let the band know about my little Garbage Australia fan page, not for my benefit, but so they know that we are out there and we support them. And it would have been friggin fantastic to get some of the fan cards I have designed signed so that I could raffle them off to gain support for my page, and in turn, the band. My absolute dream is to see someone ask Garbage to sign one of the fan cards, or to see a 'Garbage Australia t-shirt' on someone not connected to me.
In a way I am glad the band are going back into the studio soon as it gives me some time to somehow think of ways to get the ball rolling on my page. In the meantime, I will just continue to annoy the shit out of everyone I know by begging for likes.

I have created a new facebook page for Aussie fans. You can find it at www.facebook.com/GarbageAustraliaIt's very early days, but I would love to grow the community to the extent that we could have gatherings two or three times per year to trade memorabilia, tour stories, concert videos and just generally get all our Garbage madness out with like-minded fans. Eventually, I'd love it if the community could go to gigs (be it here or overseas!) together. Anyway, I would really love your support to get this up and running. I'm working on some Garbage Australia fan cards, and if I get enough interest in the group, I'll send them to the band with a return envelope and maybe have some signed goodies to give away at abovementioned meet-ups!

Oh gosh, please don't take my comment as meaning I think you're ungrateful! I guess I just get a tiny bit annoyed at the attitude (NOT from anyone here) that 'oh well you can't be that big of a fan if you're not going to ALL of the sideshows and Soundwave events'. No, I'm not, because unfortunately at the time the first sideshows were announced, I was 2 weeks off leaving my job to go back to study with no assurance as to when I would next have any income. I love garbage, but I'm not about to make myself homeless for them (besides, then where would I put all my stuff!)
There was a couple of people trying to push in front of me at Soundwave, after I had been standing in the front for 6 hours, just for garbage. I'm not an aggressive person, but seriously, if they had come between me and garbage, I would have totally lost my shit. I did not survive that friggin metal band mosh pit (I hate mosh pits, I am getting old) and end up with bruises up and down my arms, legs and chest and muscle strains from nearly having my shoulders dislocated (not to mention another injury that I won't go into!), to have some little upstart come and push in at the last minute!
But again, I digress. Totally agreed, am extremely grateful to have had another chance to see garbage play, and for NYKOP, the album we never thought we'd see.
I do think the Garbage Renaissance era is going to be different to the 95-05 years. For one, it appears there's going to be less of that industry bullshit where the band is quarantined from the fans by a schedule tighter than a bean-counter's arse, and what little downtime they have is spent schmoozing with industry wankers whose only interest in the band is how much money can be made for the industry, and who have forgotten that it is the fans who are the source of that money.
I really couldn't give a fig what the band do, as long as they're happy doing it. But I get the impression from 17 years of interviews, concerts and gig reports and 5 minutes in the presence of the band, that they are true musicians, not rock stars, and just want to make music and play it for their fans.
