ineligible
(+1 karma to Mythos. 'Elegy' is a word I'm not familiar with. But when I first saw 'elegy', the first word that came to my uneducated mind was 'ineligible'. I googled 'elegy' and what I'm learning about this word is astonishingly beautiful. And it's the title of a movie starring Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz that I have not seen yet. So, in my next trip to the video store, I'll be renting out "Elegy".)
...and I love Dennis Hopper. I didn't know Dennis Hopper was in "Elegy".

Before reading this thread, I only had a vague awareness that Shirley had intent to marry an American citizen. So, in this thread, it's breaking news to me that Shirley is now legally married to an American citizen.
I'm excited that Shirley is now a legal American citizen, that she is now enjoying the full range of rights, benefits, and privileges that a legal American citizen is entitled to. And this is a huge self-esteem builder, a huge confidence builder for any alien resident becoming a legal resident of the United States.
If the next Garbage album is now coming sooner rather than later, how much is that attributable to a new found sense of stability, confidence, and self esteem Shirley is experiencing in becoming a full-fledged American citizen via her marriage to an American citizen?

This is awesome in every way possible - new album, quite possibly a tour, and it will definitely bring some life back to the board! How exciting!! ...and getting arrested without fear of being deported. (deleted pic of President Bush doing rock'n'roll hand sign here. Had a giggle posting it. Quickly got tired and pained at having to look at it. To section109: +1 karma)

It's official:
Shirley is now married to an American citizen. She no longer has to concern herself with the possibility of getting herself deported out of the States if she chooses to engage herself in an action that gets herself arrested here in the States.
So, if it now strikes Shirley's fancy to do so, she can now do a 'real' breast flash on stage before a live public audience, and she no longer has to concern herself about getting herself deported if she is placed under arrest ... for 'real' ... for asserting her 'equal protection' right here in the States to bare her chest wall on a public stage, just like the rock'r'boys are already doing here in the States.
I'm very much looking forward now to hearing of Shirley's first arrest for engaging in an action of civil disobedience here in the States. Like, she's a supporter of PETA. In the absence of a concern of getting herself deported, we might now see Shirley engage herself in an action of nonviolent civil disobedience in the support of a PETA protest ...that might get her arrested.
Hey, the arrest of Shirley Manson for partaking in an action of nonviolent civil disobedience ... for whatever cause floats her boat ... is going to be great publicity for her, and great publicity for Garbage.

That's a stunning picture of Butch. It's a wake-up slap-across-the-face that we're all getting older. Those 'producer working in the studio' glasses (those Woody Allen glasses) puts 20 years of age on his face. Butch, in this picture, is providing us with a great example of how eyeglass wear can dramatically change how old you look. If Butch simply swaps out his Woody Allen glasses for his 'drummer playing on stage' glasses, 20 years of age will fall off his face.
And how tall is Krist? I'm 6'4". He must be at least that height or taller.
update:
Krist is 6'7" and Dave is 6"

I was shocked and outraged when I saw Megyn Kelly do this on Fox News: Megyn Kelly attacks Anita Hill who was quietly going about her life, minding her own business. And defends Judge Clarence Thomas' wife, Ginni Thomas, who left a bizarre message on Anita Hill's answering machine extending an invitation to her for her to apologize to her (Ginni) for her testimony that she submitted against Clarence Thomas - TESTIMONY ANITA HILL HAD SUBMITTED UNDER A SWORN OATH TO TELL THE TRUTH - in the U.S. Supreme Court nomination hearings for Clarence Thomas that happened 20 YEARS AGO. Anita Hill notified the authorites of having recieved this bizarre, disturbing, and offensive message from Ginni Thomas on her answering machine ... and Megyn Kelly is calling into question Anita Hill's action of reporting this to the authorities?!!! Anita Hill was minding her own business, and Ginni Thomas was not. The foul flag needs to be pulled out on Ginni Thomas, not on Anita Hill. Conduct like this by an anchor person on Fox News goes a long way in reinforcing my perception that Fox News is a propaganda media machine catering to the interests of a politically conservative audience. Fox News is not a legitimate news reporting organization. A legitimate news reporting organization excels at the task of reporting on "inconvenient truths" about the world we're living in. And the task of reporting on "inconvenient truths" is inately a liberal minded pursuit. Thus, we rarely ever see Fox News trying to do "60 Minutes" style controversial investigative reporting. And, when we do see Fox News trying to do something that looks like investigative reporting, it's usually politically motivated investigative reporting with a predetermined end objective in mind of casting an unflattering light on Democrats and liberals, ...and that's not genuine investigative reporting by journalists who truly pride themselves in being "fair and balanced", ...that's a propaganda media machine catering to the interests of a politically conservative audience rather than being a legitimate news reporting organization.) They probably do own the entire festival footage, but like i said only broadcast the three songs as part of a six part compilation of all bands performances over august 1998 - back then UK television just didnt show full sets like you get now. This gets me to thinking about hows there's probably hundreds of hours of Garbage concert video shot by pro TV crews that was not broadcast on the air, due to broadcasters having to adhere to time limitations, that is laying in video vaults in TV stations around the world. And I gotta tell you right here what I find so very appealing about Shirley's performance in "T in the Park"... ...she's wearing military style camo pants, a simple dark rain jacket, minimal make-up on her face, she's very animated in her movements like a rap singer, ...it's so obvious SHE'S HAVNG FUN in this "T in the Park" performance. We've heard Shirley express her weariness of wearing sexy skimpy outfits on stage. I prefer seeing Shirley wear what she's wearing in this "T in the Park" performance - simple sensible comfortable street clothes like you and I would wear. And I think Shirley wearing informal come-as-you-are street clothes on stage so much better reflects what the Garbage experience is about. I have a theory that when Shirley wears informal come-as-you-are street clothes on stage, she's more physically animated on stage, she goes much deeper into the zone of her performance, she's more comfortable on stage (less inhibited), and she enjoys her time on stage so much more.

I have When I grow Up from T in the park somewhere, however Scottish television only broadcast those three songs back in 1998, so those are the only footage we have of the show. I remember the rain from that day - the heaviest rain I have ever experienced in my lifetime. To heartmightmelt ... On "T in the Park" - Do you think Scottish TV captured that entire performance on video tape? I've gotta believe that they did. "T in the Park" is a very good example of a Garbage concert that I've been longing for someone to put up on the web in its entirety. To mssm2: You could use a freeware audio capture program to capture streaming audio. CNET Download.com is a great place to look at freeware audio capture programs. Andrea is a boy BTW Andrea's channel on YouTube: "GARBAGE & SHIRLEY MANSON" www.youtube.com/user/andrea111292In Andrea's profile, it does say: "Andrea (It's a male name)" ...oops!

Is the Leeds gig on anywhere? I mean to download not just 6Music It's been a couple years since I was a frequent visitor to the Garbage Dump on this board, and, I'm about ready to dive back into it to find out what is there, and what is not there now. I have scores of collected web links to Garbage pictures, concert videos, concert sound recordings, and radio broadcast recordings ...of which I don't know what the status of all those web links are right now (i.e., dead or alive) ...and I have my own collection of Garbage concert audio and video I've downloaded off the web and burned on to DVD ...and it's been a couple years since I looked over my own collection, and I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what I've got in my own collection. When I dive back into the Garbage Dump, I'll be taking inventory of my own collection at that time. The great thing about this internet revolution: while I'm sure I'm going to find that some of my favorite Garbage fan websites are now closed, I'm also sure I'm going to find some new Garbage fan websites and - fingers crossed - new concert video and audio I've never seen before. With the passage of time, it's only getting easier for the public to come forward with their private collection of concert video and audio recordings to share on the web. Recently happening in the news, movie films of past dead presidents that the public has never seen before has been released onto the web from private film collections. And likewise, I'm anticipating that we're going to be seeing web postings happening from time-to-time into the future of never-before-seen Garbage concert video and audio from private collections.
