once again, we have a tie...last time it was Abba vs. Audioslave, now it's the Beatles vs. Bjork.

i've developed compulsive support-the-underdog syndrome from watching too many scotland football matches...

Aww... I do like Bjork a bit, but I like the Beatles better... but I really don't listen much to either...

That's two in a row in which an older band has been put against a newer one. Looks like once again the older one is kicking major butt too.

I can honestly say I don't understand the fuss over the beatles. Yeah sure they changed everything about everything and their music isn't bad but I just don't get why they're so fantastic. Maybe I'm just waiting for enlightenment.

It's all about how many good songs they have. The Beatles have more than Bjork (just in number). And Bjork is good, very good...maybe just not that good.

Kao, may I ask who you are to determine how many "good" songs an artist has? It's all a matter of individual taste and opinion, is it not?

Exactly... that's why it's my own, and very personal oppinion, the only thing that I can bring to this board. Of course you can share it or not, is not like I'm forcing my point of view over yours.

The Beatles were surely one of the most influential pop bands over modern music. A lot of tunes, melodies etc, can still be heard now in songs we easily label as 'brand new'. In contradiction to this, if you listen to some Beatles song you will be amazed how 'modern' they sound.
But as I am in that kind of "don't look back" mood, I chose Björk. I'm sure her work will still sound fresh in 50 years time. Except her debut solo album (which use a lot of 90's dance elements), her CDs don't seem to get old (to me anyway).
