I feel like a voyeur! I've been reading a lot of your postings on Garbage.com to get some feedback on how the shows have been going. I know the rest of the band is tired from the exhausting schedule, but the response from y’all on the gigs has been great! I've been talking to the band almost everyday and they say every show is getting better…
Chad, one of our hard-workin’ guitar techs sent a mini email movie from backstage in Hamburg…pretty funny, cuz they all tried to talk in unison, and it came across sounding like they were on drugs!
The band is in Paris for a well deserved day off, and I'm soooooo jealous! It’s one of my favorite cities, and we’ve had such great shows there…and I won’t be part of it! I really, really wish I was out playing right now, cuz I'm starting to feel normal. It’s very frustrating, and I’m starting to climb the walls here, but my Doctor says no work until after Thanksgiving. The only exercise I’m allowed is picking up my drumsticks a few times a day to keep my hands in shape, as I was just starting to get them road worthy. Speaking of road worthy, when we last played in Lisbon, I had some killer blisters after the show because of the extreme heat, and Dave Grohl told me that if you pee on your hands in the shower, they heal really fast. He said Madonna told him (yeah, right)! Well, I tried it (I’ll try anything once) and to be honest, they did seem to heal a little faster. Needless to say, I did not engage in a long term scientific study….
I’m gaining weight back…almost up to 163. My diet consists of mostly veggie meals with lots of protein shakes, carrot juice, and green tea, which starts to get boring so I gotta figure out ways to keep it interesting.
I gotta thank y’all for sending me suggestions on books, CD’s and new music. I joined a DVD club called Netflix.com, and for $20 a month you can rent as many movies as you can want….they send them out in batches of 3, and when your done they ship your next choices. Kinda cool, as it beats driving to the local Blockbuster everyday or piling up late fees. I watched The Insider last night, and for my money, that’s the best performance Russel Crowe has given. Does anyone remember the start of the movie, where the Mike Wallace character interviews the Bin Laden character…it was really weird to watch considering recent world events. Other DVD’s: The new Godfather Trilogy, Before Night Falls, East/West, The Color of Night, and I ordered Vampire Hunter D and Perfect Blue.
I’ve been tinkering on my computer with some new music ideas…who knows, maybe some inspiration will hit me over the head. Oh yeah, I got a call from management, and Limp Bizkit is going to use a remix I did of The Nookie for their new album called New Old Songs. Imagine a battle for Fred’s conscience, with some robots/androids trying to persuade him to do the right thing, and some very bad girls trying to drag him into the abyss. The remix is called Androids vs. Las Putas.
I just read The Hole by Guy Burt, and My Dark Places by James Ellroy...both really good…and I’m starting After The Plague by T. C. Boyle.
Something to look forward to: I might get to go see a Lakers game this weekend, and The Green Bay Packers are playing Da Bears for first place in the NFC Central this Sunday...
Now that's what I call rock n’ roll!
