Arose at some absolutely hideous hour this morning to workout with my trainer which was even more torturous due to the fact that I was horribly hung over and unaccountably irritable.Cheering up the proceedings was a call from Gwen who was in her room across the hall getting ready for an appearance on TRL.
Trekked over to rehearsal where our collective minds were blown by Matt Chamberlain who has learnt our entire set in the course of 24 hours and is playing practically every song beat perfect. He is truly The BOMB. Butch has bravely stuck around in order to walk Matt through his parts which is great for us simply because it's nice to have him and his vibe in the room as we cheat on him with another (drum) lover. The entire band is feeling pretty horrid about playing these European shows without him but we all decided after much deliberation that it is better not to cancel and disappoint our hardcore fans. This will be the only chance they get to catch us in relatively small venues this year.
At the end of rehearsal,in a pitiful act of solidarity,we all took a Hepatitis A shot in the arm.Oh yeah..........that's love for ya!!!!!
Went to a nutty little party tonight that was being held in honour of U2 and their visit to NYC and to say that I felt a tad out of place........ like Zelig amongst the stars, is putting it mildly. When you are rubbing shoulders with Caroline Kennedy and Yoko Ono in one night, you know your life has taken an alarmingly surreal twist into the stratosphere.
Highlight of the evening:Meeting John McEnroe. (Fucking AMAZING!!!!) Lowlight:Tripping over a table on my way out of the bathroom ,right smack bang infront of Michael Stipe and Bono. The latter gave me a wry little grin and didn't seem in the least bit phased by my buffoonery whilst Mr Stipe on the otherhand looked rather pained. Needless to say, I felt dreadfully embarassed by my spectacular gaff but rather pitifully tried to pretend I wasn't.
