G'day ,
After listening to both "Garbage" and "Version 2.0" so many times it seems to me that the order of similar songs is the same , and the order of singles you released were the same eg. "Vow" and "Push It" are both track seven and were the first two singles of each album . Was this done on purpose ? . And can someone tell me why Butch wears nail polish in some of your photos i've seen . Can anyone tell me when you may come to Australia , because i havn't seen any concerts since sonic youth witch was a while ago now .
Thanks for ear candy .
Ben Cruse
Dear Ben,
Wow! You are right about the first single off both our albums was track seven!!!!! But no, I swear this was not deliberate!!!! And until you pointed it out we were unaware that this was the case!!!! To answer your other questions; Butch wears nail polish because Shirley paints them when she gets bored. And yes we are coming to Australia in the New Year. Keep checking into the web site, as that will keep you updated with our tour plans.
Cheers

Thanks to all of you guys!! You did a great job with version 2.0 Question:Do you know the Belgian group K's CHOICE ? If yes; do you like them? (be honnest!)
Thanks!!

Dear smic2104,
In answer to your question, I do think the girl from K's choice has a beautiful voice.

Hey, what's up? I just saw your performance at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By far the best concert that i've been to. It was well worth the two hour wait to be in the front. Now i am on the hunt for live albums (bootlegs at best, though). There is one thing that i really want to know, what was the song which Shirley said was for the hardcore, during the encore? And how could i get it? I loved it! I would really appriciate an actual direct responce, if possible. Actually, are the live samples on your website available in any form, in there whole?
chinchillamonger
Dear Chinchillamonger,
I am delighted that you enjoyed the show!!! Thanks for coming along. Unfortunately I have no idea what song you refer to that we played in the encore although I suspect that it was either "Trip My Wire" which is an obscure B-side that came out only in the UK or it was another obscure B-side called "Lick the Pavement" which also came out in the UK on the back of our first single "Push it". Hope this helps.
Cheers

this question is for shirley: i was wondering if you ever took any music lessons? ie. vocal(not like you need it. i love your voice) or guitar lessons or did you teach yourself how to play?
later,
leitz
Dear Leitz,
Yeah I did take music lessons! I learnt the violin, the piano and the clarinet at school. I did however teach myself to play the guitar but that was much later on in my life!!!!!
Cheers

HI GARBAGE,
My name is Frank Hejl and I love your band, you guys sound awesome live! My first question is for Butch:Even though your busy with Garbage, do you plan on producing any other bands records in the future? My second question is for Shirley: Do you find that music today is in a bad state, that nobody has anything as original and as innovated as past music. And if so, do you think we will ever return to good original music such as Garbages? Curious Fan,
-Frank Hejl-
Dear Frank,
I have this theory that there are still people out there making wonderful, inspirational music. It's just that it takes a little effort and a little time to find them. They are not always at the top of the charts are they? And I guess that is what is a tad depressing. To name a few: Beck; Gomez; PJ Harvey; Asian Dub Foundation; Bjork; Massive Attack; Appollofourforty; Purity; Andrea Parker. Keep being curious my friend!!!!!
Cheers

Dear Shirley,
I recently read an article on Garbage in The Sunday Express magazine which stated that you suffer from BDD. Is this true, and to what extent did it used to get to you? I'm glad to hear things has improved due to you being married.
Best wishes,
Leigh.J.Stapleton
Dear Leigh,
Thanks for your sweet letter. Yeah...I guess it is kind of true that I suffer from a body image disorder although I am in control of it these days and try not to let it get me down. Infact for the most part I have conquered my misery and try to be positive about my body. Working-out regularly seems to help and of course having a husband who loves me unconditionally helps a hundred fold.
Cheers

If you could decide another name for the band what would you call yourselves?
BeaFam
Dear Beafam,
We'd call ourselves "The Gimps" of course!!!!!!

Dear Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, Butch Vig, (Garbage)
My name is Kimberly Gallon and I am in eighth grade. I attend Spring View Middle School, and am doing an I- search paper report on things that I am interested in learning more about. I would really appreciate it if you could answer the following questions. Could you please tell me what it is like to be famous and, what it is like to work so hard at performing your really cool music. If your music weren't successful, what would you do? What is a day like when you are on tour? How do you come up with such cool lyrics? And finally, do you guys ever get annoyed with each other on long trips. The reason why I picked my favorite band was because, I really admire and look up to you guys as role models. I practically always wake up to your music every school morning at 6:00pm. It helps me have a nicer day. I will be so happy if you could just write back so I can get an A+ on my report card. Yea! Could you please reply before November 15th 1998.Thanks! Please Hurry! I'll be waiting!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Gallon
Dear Kimberly,
It is fun to be in a successful band! There is nothing more rewarding than having people like yourself telling us how much they love our music and how good it makes them feel. It is also a blast getting to travel the world and play music every night. We couldn't be luckier!!!! We work pretty damn hard though and sometimes it can be incredibly exhausting. However....every night when we get on stage and meet a crowd........it is rejuvenating and thrilling and unbelievably fulfilling. Hope this helps.
Cheers
