Hi Shirley, Butch, Duke and Steve,
My cousin Ronald and his wife Carla really like you a LOT and so do I. My question is: How do you like doing concerts every time. Don't you ever get sick of that? And don't you ever think: Tonight i don't want to perform, i just want to watch TV, or hang out with my friends....

you're right, sometimes during the day it's hard to imagine doing the show, but when we go on stage that gets forgotten pretty quickly. The audience always gets us going.
Thanks,
Steve

I just got back from the Deck the Hall Ball in Seattle and I just want to say that you guys were awesome. I always listens to your albums, but this was the first time that I heard you guys live. It blew me away. So I was wondering if you are planning to release a album containing music recorded from your concerts?

Dude-
we're recording all of our shows this tour for a possible live release sometime. Good idea!
Thanks,
Steve

I'm in Mexico City as I write this, and we hope to come to South America next year. It's cool here! We like both of those artists, and often play them loudly in the dressing room before we go onstage.
Thanks,
Steve

Dear Garbage!
I recently attended the concert at the Eagels Ballroom on Nov. 24th and I would just love to thank you for playing in Milwaukee.I have just one question.I have a friend that says the band at one time played a show at Lake Mills High School in Lake Mills Wisconsin, I guess it was before you hit mainstream.I was wondering if it were true?If it is, I envy my friend and wish I graduated from Lake Mills instead of Watertown! Can't wait until the next show in Wisconsin!!!Best of luck!!!
Nicholas R. Vogel
Hey Nicholas-
Garbage hasn't played in Lake Mills, but since 3/4 of us are from Madison it's possible that we played there in some other band years ago.
Thanks,
Steve

Garbage,
Hello, I'd first like to say that I saw you in concert that the Riviera in Chicago on Nov 25th. That was truly the absolute best concert I've been too. I was right up front on the floor going crazy for all of you.Anyway, I downloaded the acoustic version of Medication from your website, and I absolutely love it!Do you play your songs acoustically often? And do you have any other recordings of acoustic song versions? I really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Thanks.

We just played an entire concert acoustically in Portland, OR, and it was so much fun we might do it again soon- you never know! There probably will be more of that feeling on the next record.
Thanks,
Steve

Just list any favorite foods you've enjoyed during your tour.I'd like to know what tastes good to each of you. Thanks.

dearest band members,
Is it true that one of your demands for performances is to have a velvet Elvis or the bust of Elvis backstage? If so, why?
Just curious,
Toni
Hi Toni-
we don't ask for any Elvis stuff backstage, but we hope the spirit of the rocking non drug-addled Elvis is with us when we're playing. Good rumor though!
Thanks,
Steve

Dear butch or steve,
My band and I are working on a song and I've been searching for theright sound (on the guitar) during the instrumental, and the sound is almost a dead on match to the sound in the instrumental for "Only happy when it rains", but I can't determine if your getting that cool phasing kind of sound by using a slight wah petal or if your using a wammy bar, if I knew I'd be on the way to finding that perfect sound.
bizzaaro
Bizz-
that's a really distorted guitar played really "bendy"- bending up and down to the notes. And, it was recorded backwards and multi-tracked about ten times. Good luck!
Thanks,
Steve

hi guys, just had a few questions/statements about the concert on thursday at the state theatre. i am curious as to what the second "birthday" encore was, because i didn't recognize it... also, i noticed the guest(?) bassist and was curious who he was and if he was just at the detroit show or if he was touring with you guys. another thing i noticed was the massive amount of guitars you went through, is there any particular reason why you needed so many different one? different sounds, look, etc? thanks for paying attention to this miniscule bit of e-mail, considering the masses of which you must get.

Chris-
don't remember what the encore was that night. Daniel Shulman has always been our touring bass player, and he did all of the bass on 2.0 as well. Some of the guitars are in different tunings for different songs, and sometimes they have to be changed because of broken strings.
Thanks,
Steve
