So CMJ have posted a link on Twitter to an interview with Duke where says in answer to what plans the band have for the rest of 2013, "We are putting out a new album and will be touring behind it." Now that's pretty exciting and I would love that to happen. But anyone else think that's a bit optimistic? I mean G are slow in the studio right? Or could this refer to the upcoming Live DVD being released as a CD live album too?? I hope they can do it but I can't see album #6 coming until summer 2014 assuming we get one at all. Please someone tell me I'm being pessimistic :-D www.cmj.com/feature/qa-garbage/

Sounds a touch optimistic, yeah. It's going to take some time to put an album together, and we're already 1/3rd of the way through the year And as much as I want to see them live again, a tour sounds even more optimistic. They're still doing the current tour, are they going to want to carry on for months yet?

Well they have said before that they have been working on some unfinished songs from the last session. Dizzy in the Studio, Time Will Destroy Everyting could be contenders.

I know from various things the band have said they feel that whatever comes next, the turnaround should be quicker but who knows

Last night at the Boston show, Shirley mentioned more than once that they were planning to get back in the studio. At one point she said they were going back "in August." So we'll see.

Good stuff, thanks for the update, sounds promising. Although this year won't happen. After all NYKOP was released 4 months after they'd finished it so they'd need to finish it in August if the same timeline applied. Tbh, it almost seems 'wrong' to be contemplating a new album given how long we're used to waiting haha!!

Can't wait for the next one. ;D
It was hard to enjoy NYKOP as a new album because each time I heard a new song I would listen to it endlessly. By the time, I got the actual album I heard a lot of the songs 100x. But that's because we waited what 7 years? It was kinda like devouring something so fast and then saying wait, how did that even taste?
Next album, I'd like to hear the entire album all at once and experiece it as an "album".
