Now that Garbage is independent, what are the chances of ever getting remastered versions of the albums?
Smashing Pumpkins (also newly independent) are doing this now, but it took Billly *forever* to get the rights to his old material. He had plans going back at least 12 years (but I think I've read it was even longer than that...) to re-release and remaster the band's albums with bonus tracks, etc but couldn't until just within the last year or so. Is that about the norm for things like this?
For the record, how cool would it be if, just using the SP remasters as an example, we had remastered versions of all the band's albums with an extra disc of bonus tracks and also a DVD of a concert from each era?

I've been hoping for this to happen for years now - it seems that the band have all their old masters transferred back to them, but there might be clauses on the use of them for sometime.

Could they release a live DVD with the old songs? I would love if we got one.

Each remaster so far has the album remaster, a bonus disc with demos, b-sides, and alternate versions of songs, and a live concert DVD from the era of the album--all in one package That would be a great model for Garbage to use if they ever do something like this.

I think everyone would love that! I live in GA too - I wish Atlanta had been "cool" enough to have a listening party for the new album. It would have been nice to meet fellow darklings. They look like they had a blast in CA.

I kind of thought I was the only Georgian Garbage fan lol Yes, it would've been nice to have had a listening party here, though I don't know if I honestly would've gone. Not only am I somewhat (a lot) anti-social and an absolute *freak* when it comes to chatting with people I don't know, I try and make it a point to not drive to Atlanta haha...I'm a bad driver and I freak out with all that pavement and all those cars!

When I've gone to horror conventions, it's fun because of the sense of community. Everyone is so easy to talk to and just real. You can be yourself and not feel insecure about being judged for being your own person with your own tastes and ideas. And I totally hear you about driving in Atlanta. I hate driving if I don't know where I'm going or if there is no parking ---- hate parallel parking.

If they would remaster their albums a bonus CD with them reinterpreting some of their songs with an orchestra would be great (like Peter Gabriel did on new blood).

I think you'd be lucky to get a remaster of the debut (and maybe even V2.0?) as the masters have been lost. That's why some of the earlier singles sound different on Absolute Garbage, as they had to remaster them by piecing them together from alternate takes.
I'd love it to happen though. Especially the live DVDs, as I have all the b-sides.
I wonder if the now legendary Hanging' With The Bitches will ever see the light of day? I remember Butch saying they were holding it back from the BLM sessions as it was too good to waste as a b-side.
