that is so cool He is from the Dust Brothers...he did the Fight Club soundtrack, btw I hope he gives it an electronic edge also, I wonder if the MM duet will actually be on the album or what...it said it would be "released later in the year" yet didn't say if it would be a single or whose album it would appear on.

Is anyone a little worried that this band of ace producers brought another producer in? Whenever you hear of "problem" sessions and changes of producers it tends to mean that the band have lost their way and desperately need someone else to fix it. I'm a little concerned...Are they imploding?

I'm a little concerned...Are they imploding? Naw, they probably just want to make this album as perfect as they can. Shirley expressed some time ago that they were losing a little perspective on the album and needed another opinion on how it sounded, that's all. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

Fuck yeah! This is awesome. The Dust Brothers also worked with White Zombie As for the MM duet, I don't think MM has a new album coming out this year or anything, so if it's going to be featured on any album, it'd be on Garbage's.

they are just trying to make sure it's great and that it will be a hit
and sometimes you need an outside opinion
they are in good hands, trust me
p.s. they never said they were losing perspective...shirley simply said that they were working with a new producer, so hopefully that will give them a new sound and speed the process up.

Studio Diary #10 October 17-24 2003
Thursday Sent a bunch of tracks out to our record company this afternoon so we can start discussing producers or mixers for a couple of the songs that we believe could benefit from an outside ear. We've become so bogged down here, we've lost our perspective so it's time to take a step back and take a few weeks off from even thinking about this fucking session.

umm....i didn't actually read diaries from v2.0, but i watched plenty of interviews, and the angst and friction between the members sounded much worse then than it does now, so i'm not taking this as any bad sign, really.

I'm a little concerned...Are they imploding? No, I dont think so. Imagine this: you're looking for something new, some twist on a process which you already totally have down. It's very hard to be objective when the only people supplying the creative feed are those inside this process. By bringing in an outsider, it kicks everyone out of their routines - they get to think out of the box I think brining on an outside producer doesn't mean that the album will have that producers stamp on the album as such, but instead will result in the band working on different sounds - sounds which perhaps would have been a struggle to find without a "3rd party" to give them a nudge. The creative process is still down to the band (not the 3rd party producer).
