Just wanted to see if any of you had heard the new Muse single, "Uprising." It took a bit to grow on me, but now that it has, I'm absolutely OBSESSED. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeIYjKG2V0AAny thoughts?

Heard the other song being previewed and thought it was even worse. Sounds just like the last album and I'm not fussed about the lyrics either. Maybe it will grow on me but at the mo I'm saying no.

It sounds very inspired by Queen.

It was definitely written in a Queen-induced state, although I think a lot of what they write is. Matt Bellamy said that this song was supposed to be a "heavy rock take on Goldfrapp." I understand you guys not liking it. When I first heard it, I was really disappointed, didn't even want to listen. But given that they're my second favorite band (next to you know who) I gave it a huuuuge chance. 13 plays on iTunes later, something clicked and I loved it. Didn't think it was going to happen.
Obviously that's just my experience and you'd have to care an awful lot about a band to listen to a song you don't like 13 times for just the hope of liking it someday. I definitely don't expect anyone else to do the same.

i hated supermassive black hole originally and now i love it so.
Thing I hate bout Muse is they have become another band whereby the media perceives every new album now as the second coming - does my head in. I like to judge it myself on its on merits but it can be hard when media saturated with love for a band.
Sorry rant over.
Red Hot Kitchen I totally understand what you mean. I listened to TMWIH like 20 times before I felt sure I truly liked it and I do.

Your rant is appreciated. It's funny for an American girl like me because the media over here has basically no idea who Muse is (minus the slight blip in popularity due to the Twilight series [palmtoface]). Guess that might change after their American TV debut at the MTV VMA's in September. (Am I horrible to hope it doesn't?)
Oh, and the same thing happened to me for TMWIH. The first listen was definitely followed by an, "Ehhh..." from me.

I actually laughed out loud at the beginning of the song because I thought it was going to be another Super Massive Blackhole. I hated that to begin with, it's grown on me but I still don't love it. To me that song didn't sound like Muse until about a minute in.
It's growing on me but I don't love it like I love their older stuff.
