Every year RAINN, the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network, celebrates Tori's birthday with fundraising birthday parties. If you would like to participate, here is the info. From RAINN: Hello Tori fans! As we all know, Tori is deeply invested in the fight to end sexual assault. Tori took an active stand against sexual assault back in 1994 when she became a founding member of RAINN. Tori's steadfast support and passion to remain at the forefront of the fight to end sexual assault makes her one of RAINN's strongest allies. August 22nd is Tori's 45th Birthday, and she has said that her biggest wish is for her fans and RAINN's supporters to come together to help her celebrate by raising money to help victims of sexual assault. If you would like to celebrate the brilliant music of Tori Amos and join her in the fight to end sexual assault, sign up to host a Tori Birthday Bash today or contact RAINN at cbowers@rainn.org! I have just recently started listening to Tori Amos and have fallen in Love with Bouncing off clouds from American Doll Posse. I'm not usually a huge fan of the whole piano singer song-writer kind of stuff, but I can't deny integrity in an artist and immense talent. I'm not hugely familiar with her work; can anyone point me in a direction of her discography that is close to Bouncing off clouds (I don't own any full cds, does the rest of American Doll Posse for the most part sound like this song? If so I will happily buy the rest). Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Hehe, I will lead you in the right direction... I would definetly start with her second album 'Under The Pink'. It is the album that I started off with and instantly fell in love with her. The whole work is wrapped in melody and stunning lyrics. Trust me, if you don't fall in love with this record, I will even refund the CD for you

Well Andy, that is quite a garuntee, but you seem to have a similar taste in music (from what I can tell from being on the board) and I was actually hoping you would reply , so either today or this weekend I am on the search for 'under the pink'! thanks for your help Andy oh btw, what are your opinions (or anyones) on American Doll Posse?

No problem! Always glad to help American Doll Posse overall is a good album. The concept itself of the five women is great and adds something special to the album. For fans who have followed her from the beginning might be glad that there is a lot more guitar and drums on this one. At some stages, it borderlines on glam rock. My critique of it is that, it is slightly too long and the interludes ('Velvet Revolution' 'Devils & Gods' 'Programmable Soda') all have the potentional to be expanded and lengthened as they glorious songs. Overall, a good album. If this was someones debut album it would probably be their staple record. What I'm more excited about is her next record as she has just left her record company and left to her own devices. Finally, there will be a Tori album thats not edited or critiqued by a record company.

I went and got both albums, Under the Pink, (which is fantastic, thanks Andy, you get a couple of spanks for all your help!) and American Doll Posse (which is also great)! Oh the music I have been missing out on! I can't believe it took me so long to really find out about her, I mean I have always heard of her but never put any effort to listen to her music.
I Have another question, did she write the posse blogs for each character?

NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Eagle Records) - Tori Amos descended on the scene in the early '90s brimming with newfound creativity, intelligence, sensitivity and an exacting literary bearing. Celebrated by critics and the public alike, that first spotlight was a heady time in the young singer/songwriter's career. On September 30, 2008, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Eye Media subsidiary, will release Tori Amos Live At Montreux 1991/1992 on both CD (16 songs) and DVD (90 minutes, 19 songs) simultaneously sold separately [pre-book date September 10, DVD Retail Sales Price $14.98, CD Retail Sales price $13.98]. It is a rare glimpse into that initial breathy rush of a great artist's ascendancy. The '91 gig came only months before her Little Earthquakes debut had catapulted her into an instant icon, the '92 appearance shortly thereafter. The progression in both performance and audience receptivity is appreciable. Material includes most of her stellar debut but also tracks from her indie EPs and some notable covers (Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" as well as Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"). Tori Amos' stark confessional style immediately garnered millions of young fans searching for some semblance of self in an all too imperfect world. Tori's melodic sense, coupled with her unerring eye for the human foibles of a generation twice removed from the '60s sensibilities of her influences, made for a uniquely special art. There was no, and is no, precedent for such a talent. Tori's obliquely personal oeuvre digs down deep into such dramatic lyrical topics as sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. She touches that universal chord. It's small wonder she became a major voice right from the outset of her career. top40-charts.com/news/Pop-Rock/Eagle-To-Release-Tori-Amos-Live-At-Montreux-1991-1992/42648.html

Tori is awesome! My fav album is From Choirgirl Hotel. I just can't stop listening to it. Also, Posse was really great and different 'cause I didn't like previous 2 albums. They were too boring for me, I like when Tori rocks))

I really respect her talent to come up with completely different set lists each night when touring, though I fear it's spoiled me some regarding other artists.
Also, the Light Princess seems like a pretty neat story, I hope it works out.

Eagle Rock Entertainment, the company releasing Live at Montreux in North America, has announced details about the DVD and CD. While the release confirms the track list that we mentioned previously for the DVD, they indicate that the CD issue will be a single disc that includes all of the 1991 appearance and a subset of songs from the 1992 concert. The CD setlist is as follows:
Silent All These Years Precious Things China Crucify Leather Song For Eric Upside Down Happy Phantom Winter Thank You Little Earthquakes Precious Things Whole Lotta Love/Thank You Me And A Gun Winter Smells Like Teen Spirit
Tracks 11-16 are taken from the 1992 concert, meaning that year’s performances of “Crucify,” “Silent All These Years,” and “Happy Phantom” are excluded from the CD release.
At least in North America.
Even though the European CD is identified as a single disc release on Amazon UK, the back cover image on Amazon UK (at right) shows 2 discs, one for each show, and includes the entirety of the 1992 performance. On the other hand, HMV and Play both clearly indicate that it’s a two disc set in their listings. Unfortunately, there is nothing on the Eagle Rock UK site that addresses this seeming discrepancy, but it would seem that the European market would be getting a double-CD set with both shows complete while North America is getting an abbreviated single-disc release. If anyone happens to have any information about this, please let us know so we can clear it up.
As a reminder, Live at Montreux is released on September 22 in Europe and September 30th in North America. The DVD and CD are currently available for pre-order from all the usual places if you are interested in procuring it online. Although it is not for sale at The Tori Store yet, it should be as the release date near if one prefers to patronize Tori’s official merchandiser.

The whole silent film concept is very strikingly original!

Indeed. Also begs the question, if they are already filming, is the music done?
Album w/Film & Musical
Straight after the DVD release, comic book and coming off the world tour. Does the woman sleep?
I'm excited, but hope at some point we get a short, no concept, no gimmick album. (and no clown wig, even though it has been improving - why?!).

That is such a cool concept, I can't wait for it to come out. How does she have the energy to do all that plus have a family? crazy

I bet she has a clown. Or gets one of the other dolls to go into work for her!
