Such a cool find! I only have The Fugitive Dance by Spooner on CD. The rest of my "before Garbage" stuff is Shirley related.

Great stories! I met you briefly at the second El Rey show. I think you and a friend had just come back from Amoeba or something. Anyway, I hope I didn’t write too much. My brain is feeling a bit weird right now. Haha! So...
LOS ANGELES, CA - THE BOOTLEG 04/06/2012
This was their rehearsal show. I had initially missed out on tickets to the show as I was at work when the announcement was made. A few days later, I received a text from a good darkling friend telling me to try again because more tickets had become available. I tried my luck and literally screamed and jumped for joy that I would now be able to go to the show.
I got to the venue to find that there were only about 20 people in front of me, some of which I had met previously, but it had been years since then. The venue was tiny, and the stage wasn't much higher than the floor. The band played a good set including one song off of the new album. I'm pretty sure it was Man on a Wire. The floors bounced up and down as the band rocked on. There was little crowd interaction, and Shirley didn't really say much to the audience. They seemed a bit nervous, but who could blame them? Overall, the show was good. You could tell that they were a bit rusty, but that didn't stop them from putting on a great show for us that night.
LOS ANGELES, CA - THE EL REY 04/10/2013
This was a really cool show simply because I met so many awesome darklings that day/night. Waiting in line for hours in the heat can really bring people together. Haha! I almost ran right into Duke when I was coming back from the bathroom. He was nice enough to sign my ticket. Later that night, my boyfriend was able to get a pick from Steve and a setlist. We waited outside, and the boys came out. They were all really friendly. We got pictures and autographs and chatted a bit.
I was extremely happy with this venue because they had steps on the floor, so I was able to stand on a higher level to see. The band treated us to another song off the new album, Automatic Systematic Habit. I fell in love with it! You could still tell that they were a little nervous, but they had already grown a lot since the performance at the Bootleg a few days earlier.
HOLLYWOOD, CA - THE PENTHOUSE AT THE HOLLYWOOD TOWER 05/31/2012
Once again, I lucked out and won tickets to a small acoustic show put on by a local radio station. I arrived at The Tower to find a few other darkling friends waiting there. We were given special badges and escorted up to the rooftop of the building. The event was catered. Can’t complain about free food and drinks! Then we were ushered to another part of the roof, where the band would be playing. We were able to secure ourselves spots in the front row. The band came out and played five or six acoustic songs. They sounded awesome. Kennedy did a short interview. Then the band took pictures with everyone. I was able to give a card to Shirley. Veela was there too!
CHULA VISTA, CA – X-FEST AT THE CRICKET WIRELESS AMPHITHEATER 06/03/2012
My friend was getting married a little south of Orange County the day before this show, so I got tickets to this show since we’d already be halfway there. The band was scheduled for a meet and greet, so we got in line for that only to find that the event was really disorganized. Since my boyfriend and I weren’t there to see any of the other acts, we spent the entire day getting in and out of line as to not miss the band. It worked thankfully! Shirley pulled me behind the table (much to her security guards chagrin) and talked to me about the card I had given her at The Penthouse show. I had met her a few times in previous tours, but this was the first time that she made me cry. Anyway, I got one of my Queen Helens signed by the band and made our way back to the crappy seats I had purchased.
It wasn’t until it got dark that the band finally took the stage. Their set was probably about ten songs, all singles, but that’s kind of what you expect at the festival shows. Some people around me had never heard of the band, others were singing along with every song, so it was cool to see fans of the band as well as potential future fans.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – THE PALLADIUM 10/02/2012
This time we were prepared to for a long day of waiting. We brought chairs, umbrellas, snacks, and a cooler full of waters. Once again, we got to hang out with other fans, which seems to really be a highlight of these shows now. I hadn’t known anyone else at previous shows. The venue’s line system was terrible. All that waiting in line added up to not being able to see a damn bit. My boyfriend was all the way in the back, and I was in the second row. But being that I am vertically challenged, it didn’t help. The line had been split into six, and people rushed the stage. It was terrible.
Eventually I gave up and went to the back of the venue. It turned out to be much better back there anyway. I could dance without fear of hurting anyone or anyone watching me. I finally got to hear The One and I Hate Love. The band was really good that night, and it was awesome to see the place so packed.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE 10/03/2012
It was another day of waiting in line, but we had good company. Plus, this time it paid off. I was able to get against the rail for the taping. It was neat watching them perform. Shirley’s outfit was cool too. Her skirt looked like it was made of folded plastic. The band sounded good. It’s always interesting to hear the live sound and then watch it back on television. They sounded much better live than on the broadcast.
SAN BERNARDINO, CA – SAN MANUEL AMPHITHEATER 12/06/2012
A bunch of us got together and drove up there in a van. We decorated the outside with Garbage lyrics and pictures. Super fun!
I had put together a book of fan experiences to give to the band. I was inspired by all the postings about the influence that the band has had on their fans, and I thought it would be really cool to find a way to be able to share all their stories with the band. I know a lot of us have a hard time telling them in person or don’t have the opportunity. I was hoping to just hand it to one of their “people” to give to them, but to my surprise, I was invited backstage to give it to the band myself. They were amazing and kind as usual. They kept a copy, and I got my copy signed.
The show sounded good, but I could not see a damn thing. This was the worst show I have ever been to because of the venue. It was a seated show, but the seats were all on the same level. The only rows that were probably able to see were the first two or three. Still, the band sounded great, and once again, hanging out with other darklings is rarely a bad time.
BURBANK, CA – THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO 12/07/2012
The day after the San Manuel show, we loaded back into the van and made our way to The Tonight Show. I wasn’t really a fan of Jay Leno. Seeing the show taped live made me like him a little more but not enough to watch his show over any other late night host’s show. The band played I Hate Love, and the sounded wonderful! Shirley looked AMAZING too! We waited outside the venue in hopes of seeing the band after, but they must have been really sneaky. So we went over to Costco for a darkling dinner of pizza and hot dogs.
LAS VEGAS, NV – THE PEARL AT THE PALMS 04/12/2012
We arrived in Las Vegas the day before the concert, and we got to meet up with a lot of people. Those of us that weren’t going to the New Order concert wandered the streets of Las Vegas and had some dinner.
The next morning, we were prepared for a long day of waiting in line. I was determined to be on the rail at a proper Garbage show! We arrived at around nine or ten in the morning to be 11th and 12th in line. It was by far the easiest line to wait in as we numbered ourselves and then relaxed/gambled/drank in the nice air conditioned casino. It was especially neat meeting all the darklings from out of town that had flown in from the concert. Butch and Eric passed by us looking for coffee.
Well, it turned out that my tickets were for seats. I had designed the posters for this tour and had no idea what kind of tickets I would be receiving. I was slightly disappointed, but what can you do? Our seats were really good though, but a few songs in, I went to stand behind them so I could dance without blocking the people sitting behind me. Apparently I shouldn’t have given a fuck because they were talking over the music the entire show and decided to stand toward the end anyway. It was another great show, but it did feel like something was missing. They seemed to be a little tired maybe. Still, they entertained the hell out of us.
We went backstage after the show. I missed out on talking to the boys, but Shirley was nice as always. We chatted a bit, took some pictures. She signed my pass, which I hadn’t realized was on my boob. So that was a little awkward.
We spent the rest of the night hanging out with other darklings. A few of us went to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert the next night, and then we came home.
I really don’t think I could have asked for a better tour from them. I had hoped that they would get back together, and I’m so glad that they are even stronger than before. I was particularly amazed by how much better they became as the tour progressed. They just kept getting stronger and stronger. It was also such a cool experience getting to meet so many other fans. I’m really glad I was able to make it to so many shows, and I hope to meet more of you on the next tour!

I had been a fan since the debut album, but when Version 2.0 came out, I really got into them. It was also when I started my collection. I'm pretty sure that album got me through high school.

She was so full of energy! I felt like a scared mother hoping to God she didn't fall and hurt herself. Haha! I was pretty disappointed that Io Echo wouldn't be opening for this show, but after their set, I was quite pleased.

Which of the single covers artwork is your favorite?
I would have to go with either Shut Your Mouth or TTITKB.

I like Felt more than Sugar, but I think I'd rather hear Sugar live. I'd be happy with any of the three remaining bonus tracks live as well. I don't feel like I can choose at this particular moment.
