I think the movie "Signs" is probrably one of the best movies ever made. I can not find any problems with this movie. I think I have seen it a dozen times and it still scares the crap out of me. The acting is subperb, the direction is oustanding, the cinematography is out of this world.
What are your thoughts.....

I enjoyed the movie. I think I would never nominated "Signs" as the greatest movie ever or something, but it was pretty good. Definately a must in your dvd collection.

of M. Nights movies.. it was my least favorite.. theres only so much corn i could take.
.. plus he only touched the tip of the iceburg on these crop circle phenomenons..
he decided not to even mention all of the other crop circles plagueing our lands.. all the flattened cabbage.. carrots and peas.. Even the elusive zucchinis are not safe..
i guess society is just not prepared for those stories yet.

i liked it, but i have issues with it.
like the fact that the aliens can be injured/killed with water and they go to a planet that's made up of mostly water. doesn't sound like a real good move to me.
but it's still a movie i like to watch over and over again.

i enjoyed it very much. the biggest problem i saw was how they showed the alien at the end. i suppose this is just my opinion, but i thought it woulda been a lot better and creepier if they would never have just come out and shown it like that. i think it woulda been better sticking to shadows and the reflection in the tv, etc. but i just finished watching alien and aliens and right now, you couldn't convince me that anything's better than aliens.

This movie has a great cinematography, and that's about it. The rest is boring as hell, M. Gibson's part is unbearable - as the priest who lost his faith but finds it back eventually (would he have accepted the role if his character hadn't found it back ?), and lines like "I can't explain these phenomena because I lost my faith" made me litteraly jump on my couch because they're so cliché and stupid.
The creatures are ridiculous as well, and annoying too, with their squealing dolphin noises and their mid-90's Roswell looks, which made me laugh my head off instead of shit my pants. and the ending is crap as well, nothing really happens as the UFOs seem to go back to their planet without the intervention of anybody. Gibson's character explained it by the fact that they remained faithful to God (WTF ??) and that no situation is ever hopeless, BLAH BLAH BLAH and of course he becomes a priest again afterwards. this is so predictable. (in my opinion).
I hope 'The Village' is better because except Sixth Sense, M. Night Shyamalan hasn't really impressed me since - but I saw the trailer the other day and it seemed like a dull remixed version of Sleepy Hollow..

well, didn't enjoy it that much either, didn't even know why i saw it ... i mean i enterd the cinema expecting a slick and intellegent thriller as it claimed to be but it turned out just another awkard scary movie... i 've never been a fan of M. Gibson and i honestly didn't find his role convicing or even likable at all... and the rest of it... bah!! PS: i have absolutely nothing against religeous people, but isn't this "priest questioning his faith" thing a bit cliched?? i mean we already have the unmatched Father Merrin from the Exorcist...

Gibson IS a religioust extremist (he shot "The Passion Of Christ" in arameic (sp?) and organized mass in latin and greek every day before the shooting) makes it even more cliché.

I am not the biggest M. Night fan, I hated Unbreakable (anyone remember that piece of bloated crap) and *GASP* I really wasn't too taken with the Sixth Sense...but I did like Signs. It had some very suspenseful and scary parts that alot of horror films lack today-subtlety.
I think The Village looks good, but of course I really like Joaquin Phoenix.

I like Signs...I thought it was overly religious at times (the whole "going back to God" ending) BUT I LOVED when they showed the footage from Argentina (I think) on the news with the alien sneaking around that girls' party. SO SCARY. When you see the aliens up close it isn't scary but the SUGGESTION of them or a glimpse of them is terrifying. I'm a fan of leaving a lot to the imagination. For instance, when they are all hiding in that closet and you HEAR the aliens walking around on the porch, I WAS SOOO SCARED. I literally was shaking. So I think those scenes, where your mind is imagining the worst, are the most affective.
I really want to see The Village. The red slash marks on the doors really intrigued me. It suggests so much with so little. Brilliant. The idea of being "marked" fascinates me. I knew I wanted to see it as soon as I saw that.

Signs is the only M. Night film I haven't seen. I like Sixth Sense, and just saw the Village tonight. It was fabulous. I recommend it. I do agree with Candy, Unbreakable was awful. It had a good build up, but the ending made me want my money and 2 hours back.

The Ring is one of my favorite movies ever...and Ringu (the original) is great as well. I really want to see The Grudge (out this fall)...the Japanese version looks terrifying.

erm... there are actually 7 of them. don't how many of the Ring "series" are released outside Asia tho... anyways it takes forever to see them all and understand what they really are about and honestly more than half of them is, well, kinda crappy

like i said they were never released outside Asia. they were filmed exactly the same to the timeline of the original 7-part novel. well since i never saw the version released in America and Europe there's the possiblity that they re-edited them and made them into three... the story was a bit draggy in the original version anyways so...
