I'm sure all of you are watching this on TV, what are your opinions and what do you see happening in the future for the Vatican?
As a catholic, it will be a very big loss to the nation of other catholics, especially to the Italians who adorned him since he was made a pope in the 1970's. He was an active humanist and always thought well of others before himself.
They believe within a few hours he will pass on, and I know for a fact the city will be in pain, but the prayers and wishes are all in the Vatican at this time, and that is keeping the spirit alive. I thought it was noble of him to end it, because he suffered many years with various diseases and fought hard to keep his life, and now, I think he should be put to rest.
All I can say is god bless to all and I wish the best for the Italians, Catholics, and other religions who got to know the Pope for his hardships and blessings.

Beside being a head of catholic church he IS (still is) a breakthrough politician, who in my opinion is kind of responsible for the overthrow of comunism in the eastern Europe..This world might not be the same after his death (I know a lot you might not realize that, but he's not just another pope!) anyway..I actually live in the town where he was born, so our Pope is a very significant person for me personally

i was watching something about this on the news last night, and they had a local priest or archbishop or someone talking about it, and he brought up euthanasia and how this (the pope struggling to survive, etc) is an example of how all life is sacred, and so on and so forth. i was SO UTTERLY DISGUSTED!! i mean, he was policitizing this extremely revered man's struggle to survive. morbid and wrong.

Politicizing you say? This pope IS a politician. This is (I believe) exactly what he would have wanted with his death. He was a man of peace all his life. He even went out of his way to forgive the man that tried to assassinate him in 1981. To think any other way would be kind of a slap in the face of everything he set out to do in his life. He is a great man and someone that will go down in history as someone that changed the world. The world will really miss his leadership.

FallenAngel Well to tell you the truth I am sick of hearing about the whole thing but I have to say he is, or was a great man. I dont care that you dont like the pope. I do think someone has to say something about all the good things he has done over the span of his life. I will stop with that.

The Pope is an instrument, a puppet. It has become even clearer these last few weeks during the Easter celebrations. I'm sure he's already dead - His counsellors are just waiting for the proper time to announce his death and know when to go mediatic about it.
Have you read excerpt of "his" last book? It's fool of medieval values about contraception, abortion and sexuality. The exact manifesto the Vatican wanted to release for years. They just thought it might be a good thing to release it now The Pope is in the media 24/7.
