Dear Jerilyn,
We are in the process of compiling a detailed discography which should be on the site within the next month or so. That should provide you with all the answers you need!!!!! In the meantime..........just keep listening to Garbage. Our records are better than the ones we made in our other bands!!!!

Dear Shirley,
All Brazilian fans are sending a BIG HELLO! We're all anxiously expecting your gigs here in Brazil, since 1995... But here comes the main question: Stupid girl is a song that seems to fit PERFECTLY in a girl from my school ( and she paradoxally loves that song!! ). I'd like to know where the inspiration for it came, as you sing it whith such anger...If you come, I hope you'll sing "Thirteen" and "Vow", my favourite songs ever.
Keith Abud
Keith
........thanks for writing!.......Stupid Girl isn't about anyone in particular.......it could have been called Stupid Boy.........we have been performing both Vow and 13 in concert so maybe we'll play them when we come to Brazil sometime this summer......
Duke
Dear Keith,
Thanks for the E-mail! In answer to your question about "Stupid Girl".........I can't tell you where the inspiration came from. It's a secret!!!!! However.......I'm just glad that you like the song and that you can relate to it in some way. We are very much looking forward to playing in Brazil.
Hope to be there soon!
Cheers
Shirley
We can't wait to get to South America either! Stupid Girl isn't about any one person- just about stupid boys and girls everywhere.

The band,
In one of your pictures, saw that one of the drum player had black nail polish on! whats up with that?
-stephanie payne from madison
Stephanie
.......we like nail polish.......and we like black........sometimes, though, it's red.......or green......or none at all.....
Duke
Dear Stephanie from Madison,
I encourage all my band mates to wear nail polish as I think it looks hot.
Cheers

Dear Garbage,
Having recently learned that one of your playlist favorites is Talking Heads, I have a rather oddball host of questions for you: Is there a particular member of Garbage who likes Talking Heads? Is there a favorite or exclusive album of theirs on the G playlist?
*and*
Whenever I listen to You Look So Fine, I hear a synthesizer part (at the point where Shirley sings, "you look so fine" and the music takes over, and leads into "knocked down...") that reminds me of Brian Eno synth stuff from his '70s Pop/Music for Films album era ... but I can't put my finger on which track. Is this similarity entirely coincidental? Is there an Eno enthusiast in the group?
Best Regards,
-Alan H-

.....we all like Talking Heads........I like Fear of music.....and we all like eno......the part you refer to in Look So Fine does have a certain enoesque feel to it but it reminds me more of the Carpenters or Burt Bacharach, who we also like very much......
Duke
Eno did some of the most interseting recordings ever- they always sounded somewhat "off", even with U2, and that's one reason we like his work.

Dear Shirley,
Have you ever heard of Mtv's Celebrity Deathmatch? It is an awsome show. I think you should propose to Eric Fogel to put you on, and fight Marilyn Manson. This would be a great fight because first your both namesakes(Manson), and also I think Marilyn stole your look(red hair, pale complection{and even breasts}) So I hope to see you on CDM.

Dear Stephen J.Daciuk,
I laughed my head off when I read your E-mail. I couldn't agree more.

Hello,
This message is for Butch Vig. First, I'd like to point out that although I'm a relatively new fan, I totally dig your records. I think that when the rock historians look back at the late 90's, they will cite Garbage as one of the most trend-setting and influential bands of the time. Keep up the good work.
Second, I have an odd question. Are you and I related to each other? This has been bugging me for quite some time, but I'm just now getting around to contacting you about it. Here's the deal: my mother's maiden name is Vig. She was born and raised in Lampson, Wisconsin. Her father was named Willard Vig, and Mom tells me that he had one brother who had a large number of children. Willard died last spring, and I've never been in contact with that side of the family because of my Mom's wishes. But now I'm curious - what's your family history like? Could we perhaps be related?
I know your a famous and busy rockstar, but please write back when you have time. Or have one of your people handle it. Thanks and good luck in the New Year,
Johnny L.
Johnny-
thanks but I don't think so. Anyway, best of luck to you, and enhance the trance.

.......we plan to make a video for You Look So Fine..... ......and maybe we'll come to Montana sometime...we've been just about everywhere else......
Duke
Dear Baller,
We are most definitely going to make a video for "You look so fine" so you can rest easy about that. As for Garbage making it to Montana? Sure! Why the hell not!!!!! See you in the front row.
Cheers

Dear People of Garbage,
I've just spent the last hour or so reading your email with replies from you to your fans. May I say how wonderful it is to see people treated with such humanity and consideration. "So shines a good deed in such a weary weary world".
I have admired your music for quite some time and am interested in the imagery of your video for "Push It". Its a fantastic piece of work and very thought provoking. I understand that you perhaps would like people to form their own opinions and ideas concerning your visual images, but I'm interested in what your thoughts are to the clip. What were you aiming for? What were you trying to say? Where did the symbolism come from? What do you think of it?
Thankyou,
Sincerely,
Gionni Di Gravio

Dear Gionni Di Gravio,
The video for Push it is incredibly dense in the same way that the song is. The song deals with many different things and works on many different levels as does the video.I don't want to explain the two in too much detail. I would prefer that you make up your own mind.
Hope this doesn't sound too pretentious or precious.
Cheers
