Have any of you ever figured out what book that inspired Queer? I remember from old interviews Butch saying it was partially inspired by a book about a woman who was hired to have sex with a boy. Eventually, the boy discovers she is also having sex with his father.
I have searched relentlessly over the past few years, in my library, book stores and over the net, to find a book that fits the description. but ive gotten nowhere!
Someone put me out of my misery.

I thought it was about Anthony Kiedis (RHCP). It has been said in a few interviews, and later in a biography, that he lost his virginity at the age of 12 to either his father's girlfriend, or a prostitute that his father frequented, when his father requested that she make his son "a man;" various websites claim this person to be a red-head; some give the name Kimberly Smith.

I thought that it was like a news article or something -- same story, but I thought that's what inspired the song. I could be totally wrong though.

I've encountered similar plots in different short stories, movies, and TV shows. I mean, it's not such an original idea that there would only be one source for it, you know? The concept of father and son bonding (or not) over sex is a common theme, in my reading/viewing experience.
Just my two cents.

Butch Vig: "With "Queer", I was reading this novel about this woman who was hired to go and make this guy's son "a man". The kid is missing a few marbles. But then he realises that the woman who came to his room is also fucking his father."
Got that from Wiki, it is pretty reliable because i remember him saying it in an interview years ago.

I was under the impression that it was inspired by William S. Burroughs' book Queer. But now that I read upon plot descriptions I think it may not be that one.. Found this discussion thread where someone says they remember Butch saying he read a newspaper article on a man who paid a hooker to sleep with his son to "make him a man" www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3577last post on that page.
