· 10/27/06 I was having lunch with some coworkers at the cafe at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica today and had my best celeb sighting ever (for me, at least). I'm mid-sentence when my coworker interrupts me and points to a petite woman with a mound of bright red hair on top of her head making her way to the counter to order. It took me about 10 seconds to process that it was my hero, Shirley Manson, with a male companion. She was dressed in all black, with no makeup except bright red lipstick and was absolutely stunning (I'd definitely go three-day gay for her). She seemed very relaxed and stopped to play with another patron's puppy before going inside to order. I was geeking out way too hard to say anything to her, which is probably for the best. I would have made a complete ass out of myself. from defamer.com: www.defamer.com/hollywood/sightings/hollywood-privacywatch-harrison-ford-on-the-diet-coke-wagon-211762.php

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your story! You are so lucky. I know what you mean about geeking out--I have no idea what I would do under those circumstances. Shirley is the only celebrity I'd feel nervous about meeting, so I may not go up to her either. Anyone else I wouldn't care; I have no interest in celebs whatsoever. But if I saw Shirley, I'd probably have a big lump in my throat. Sometimes it's better not to say anything if you don't want to make a fool out of yourself. Still, you are one lucky person.

the one and only time i met her i started crying like a lunatic. people were staring. i kept thinking to myself.. "There has to be something very wrong with me.." However Ms. Manson was quite lovely and hugged me and laughed at the fact that I was so emotional. she was very warm and friendly and i was a complete spaz.

Oh good, now I feel slightly better about the fact that I'd probably do exactly the same thing!!
That's assuming I wasn't too chicken shit to approach her in the first place - I know I'd make a complete ass of myself by wigging out so I probably wouldn't approach her.

I'm going out to California next week. That would be awesome if somehow I ran into her. Whenever I go out there, I usually spot the crowd of people surrounding someone "famous" but mostly I don't think i would recognize someone famous, unless it were Shirley..... I do recognize the local news people when I see them in the Safeway...

It's cool that she was so sweet about it. You have nothing to feel bad about, Ninamarie. I'm sure she was flattered by it.

I live in Cali, but not in LA & I've gone my whole life without seeing anyone truly famous whenever I go to LA. Maybe it's where I go, maybe it's just cuz I dont care....

With all of Garbage, Teresa and I played it quite cool. In fact she complimented me and that was a shock. She has to hand painted things I've created and the first which was 6 months prior to meeting, she recollected it from memory. I was quite flattered. They are a great group of people and totally friendly. Don't cry (although it's ok) Just try and conversate. ;D
