Many fans have not been able to see The Pretenders Decades Rock Live show that was taped on August 11, 2006, in Atlantic City. I have taped the show on VHS, but since I still seem to have one foot in the dark ages , I unfortunately have no way to turn the tape into digital format so that we can upload it here. So I'm wondering: is there a Darkling out there who has the equipment to to this, and the time, not to mention the heart of gold? If so, I'll ship the tape out to you ASAP so that Darklings all around can check out the show (or at least the Shirley bits -- Talk of the Town, OHWIR and Middle of the Road). If I could do it myself I would be working on it right now. But I figure if we all work together we can make it happen for everyone. So if you are willing and able to do this, please pm me with your mailing address so I can get the video tape in the mail to you. Also, if anyone else out there already has a digital file of the show and is working on the upload as we speak, please also let me know so I don't ship out the tape for nothing... Thanks in advance!

I have the equipment and could do so, however since I'm in Australia, it's probably not a viable option! I'm sure there's some clever person in the US that can/will do it but if not, I'll do it

Thanks so much, Vixen. Yeah, let's see if we can get a person in the US to come through first. That's probably easier and faster. But you are very cool to offer, and you never know. I still may take you up on the offer. Wow, you must be 12 hours ahead of me... Good morning to you! And to Honeybee: Yes, she was gorgeous indeed! And the performances were solid. Hopefully you'll all be able to enjoy them soon.

I would absolutely LOVE to do that! I have the knowledge, equipment, and software to be able to make ANY kind of video file or DVD for you. If it was any other time I would be more than happy to do that project for you, but it is bad timing for me. I am moving very shortly and I am swamped with things to do regarding my move. Unfortuntely it may be a month or so before I have the time to take on such a project. However, if you can't find anyone between then and now, I would love to do that for you and upload the file here for all the world to see!

I can't remember who it was but someone uploaded a full HD DVD quality show for Soundstage, would that person be able to do the same with the VH1 The Pretenders Decades Rock Live? And also I think DVD quality would be better then VHS transfered but I will still take that option if we can't get the first one

And also I think DVD quality would be better then VHS transfered but I will still take that option if we can't get the first one I don't know if you are referring to me or not. I uploaded the full Soundstage show in DVD quality, but not HD quality. AFAIK, I don't think anyone uploaded the whole show in HD quality. See my answer above for the reason why I can't do it right now. Regarding DVD quality vs. VHS quality, it all depends on the original source of the recording. If you record it on VHS then, even though you can upsample it to DVD format, it won't look as good as something that was originally recorded digitally in full DVD quality. It's all about the original source of the recording! FWIW, anybody that is going to record it for the future. Please avoid VHS recordings at all costs! VHS is an absolutely HORRIBLE format to use. Anybody that has a digital camcorder should record it in that format instead. It will give 50 % better resolution and a much higher quality picture. It's super easy to do and anybody that wants a very easy step by step tutorial on how to do it, just PM me. As I've mentioned in the previous threads about this show, I don't get VH-1 classic, otherwise you all would have had a full DVD quality upload by now, just like I did with Soundstage!

My genius idea:
Why not contact those at Incubus boards to see if they have a full recording? Those youtube videos had to be uploaded by someone--probably an Incubus fan--why not see if he/she/they have the full thing?
Pretty good, huh?

i could convert vhs to dvd and send the tape and a dvd copy back to you. Dupacrash, you rock! If you pm me your mailing address I'll try to send the tape out tonight. You are so sweet to do this! Trader J, thanks for your help as well. I know I need to invest in some better equipment. VHS is pretty horrible but it's all I have right now. Everyone: I'll send the tape to Dupacrash for now and then at least we'll all have something to watch until a better quality file comes around. In the meantime something is better than nothing, right? We'll keep you posted...

Thanks for the video. Neat to hear OHWIR played by a straight-up guitar/bass/drum ensemble without any efx and loops. Shirley definitely let her nervousness get to her though. If you listen to a recording of Chrissie guesting on OHWIR while Garbage were on tour, you get a much richer performance. Of course, that's when Shirley is playing with her own band (who wrote the song and had been playing it for years) in front of an audience that came to see her band and with only one Pretender, not the whole lot.

That movie requires quicktime I believe. Great performance. Shirley's counting--quite possibly the hottest thing I've heard in all of 2006.

FYI, this has been re-airing on VH1. It was on twice last night, and I managed to set my DVR. I have the complete show now....now I just need to get it from my DVR box to my PC.
