Ex-Manson manager jailed for babysitter sex abuse
A SCOTS music mogul's career is in ruins after he was jailed for sexually abusing a babysitter.
Deke Primo, who managed the early career of Shirley Manson, was sentenced to 20 months in prison and placed on the sex offenders' register for ten years.
The 44-year-old previously admitted assaulting the victim, who was a young teenager at the time, on various occasions while she stayed with him. Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard how Primo's friends in the music industry had already begun shunning him since the revelations about the girl came to light.
London-based Primo has had to go on the dole because no-one will deal with him and a planned wedding to his girlfriend has been postponed.
Lisa Gillespie, defending, said: "This is a man from a relatively modest background who through hard work has made success for himself in his chosen industry.
"He admits he is unlikely to work in the industry again and people are already refusing to take his calls.
The victim is said to have stayed at Primo's home in Edinburgh on occasion after babysitting while he was on nights out.
Primo sneaked into the girl's room as she slept, molested her by touching her and forcing her to touch him. The girl later told police she "lay rigid" and tried to keep her legs firmly closed during the ordeal between 1992 and 1994.
As he was led away from court Primo shouted at the public gallery: "I hope you are happy Mr policeman. I hope you can sleep at night."
