I was wondering if you guys wear your Garbage shirts when you go to a Garbage concert? I am going to a show next month, and someone told me I shouldn't wear a shirt of the band to the concert. I never heard of this before......... What do you all do?

There were people wearing past concert shirts to the last G show I went to. I even heard some people saying "nice shirt".

My boyfriend always says that. I think it's fine either way. Do what you want!

I'll be wearing one of their shirts to the next garbage concert I go to. Who cares?

I wore one for each date of the UK tour! Saw shirts from all previous albums!

I always wear a G shirt at a G concert, and why wouldn't I. I feel proud wearing those shirts and perfectly comfortable. A few months ago I even got complemented by Butch and Duke on my "old school" Version2.0 globe t-shirt.

I've worn my I Hate Love shirt that I bought to a couple of the shows now. No one says anything except for "cool shirt". ;D Just wear it I say!

this all goes back to the movie "P.C.U.". it's a college comedy from 1993 or 1994 about political correctness. there's a scene where jeremy piven stops john favraeu as he's leaving for a concert and asks - "what is this? you're wearing a shirt of the band you're going to see? DON'T BE THAT GUY!
i have chosen to be that guy, however. i have three of the garbage shirts like the one i'm wearing with the picture band on this page. they're almost like part of a uniform i wear to the shows. and if you wear the same shirt enough you might get a playful tug on it when shirley points out you're always wearing the same shirt. i'm just saying.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't been to a concert since NIN wave goodbye tour a few years ago. I'm gonna wear a G-shirt to the show, I thought I missed out on some new "unwritten rule" or something xD. That movie reference probably has something to do with it!

I had some friends who were in an internationally-known punk band. I hung out with them after the show once when they played my home town. After the show, they engaged in a lot of very funny banter, and one of the things they did was to joke about a guy in the audience wearing one of their shirts. And "DON'T BE THAT GUY!" is exactly one of the things they said. So now I now where that came from!

I personally don't usually wear a band's shirt to their concert, but that's just me.
If you want to wear it, wear it, there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't see anything wrong with it either, I'll wear my G shirt when they come to SF.

To me wearing a band shirt to one of the bands concerts is like wearing a sports jersey to one of the said sports teams games. In my opinion there's absolutely nothing wrong with it as I see it as simply showing your support for the band. Like others have said I'm sure any feelings otherwise all has to do with a past pop culture reference.
