g-xp.com/A project by Jake Rubin with Elfi Frequin. This looks promising! Kudos to both for getting it off the ground. I spoke to Elfi years ago and she mentioned doing something like this for the next album - glad to see shes kept her word!

I'm not sure this project will go anywhere...I mean it's a big thing but I don't think Garbage are out of ideas on how to make happy a crowd or a fanbase...I think they're doing great and the Garbage experience just has to develop on its own, without the intermission of anyone or the planning of anything. Garbage are unique not much for what they do, but especially for how they do it. On the other hand, it's good to see somebody investing so much time and soul into such a big project. Very impressive! And it also looks really professional. Garbage have a unique fanbase, first and foremost!!!

It seems they put a lot of effort on this project. But I think it's quite useless. What they want in fact?

Hi guys,
I wanted to take a moment to respond to this thread. Firstly to those who issued support towards the project, thank you, I really appreciate it. I, like all of you, have been a longtime Garbage fan and attempted to represent what I believed to be the general best interests of the fan community. Early on when I started the project, I actually created a thread on this board asking for input from other fans, some of which I used in the project.
The Garbage Experience Project is about taking something great (like all the things Garbage has done in the past for their fans) and ensuring that they continue and get even better. While some may not realize it, there is a lot of planning that goes into creating digital marketing strategies and fan interaction. My goal with this was to ensure the best possible experience for the vast majority of fans because I've always felt that's been Garbage's goal but it has not always come to fruition.
It's not that Garbage are out of ideas but the general sentiment during the Bleed Like Me era was that fans felt a bit disconnected from the band and people were upset about the fan club etc. If there are additional ideas or feedback that you guys have about the project, please let me know either here or on G-xP.com, I love to hear the feedback and it can only lead to the project improving. Thanks again!

I remember signing up for the fan club a looooong time ago, and all I got was a picture of Shirley and that headless guy from the Push it video. Oh well, it was worth five bucks.

that is so cool for them. I love how shirley and the rest of the band would go out of their way to let them listen to it early, shows how much they do care about their fans.
I hope Jake and Elfie can give us a review of the album or whether they will be sworn to secrecy until next year.

Elfie got to listen to BLM (and got a thank you in the credits) ahead of release too Well, Elfie ran the Queen Helen fanzine back in the day, and Mushroom were very into giving special access to Garbage fanzine editors and webmasters. Elfie was able to continue this with Warner. The band know her well, and Shirley has shouted out to Elfie onstage numerous times. Shes a lucky girl.

It's not that Garbage are out of ideas but the general sentiment during the Bleed Like Me era was that fans felt a bit disconnected from the band and people were upset about the fan club etc. The point is that at the time of BLM there was a lot troubles and we noticed it looking at official site....(not that at the time of BG there was more interaction...).Personaly i never been a big fan of Fan's Club(with some exception)...get a poster, pins or a keyholder and a club card dosen't make me feel more fan of someone that just buy albums, i have the same feeling for those sites that have one year life (Like the Christina Aguilera Street Team)that leave the fans alone and close after the album promotion (1 year ). Honestley i think is too late to make this kind of things work how are supposte to do the album is next to go out this IF they (The band and the label) want do something of different to the classic Fan Club (see up) they should be had done it before....do things at last minute isn't a good thing. What do ? Hmmm well an idea is use the new technology's with things like live chat with the band or do something like streeaming concert, chance to win ticket's and private meeting with the band ..etc FallenAngel

FallenAngel, I'm not quite sure that I understand your argument completely but what I believe you're stating is that there is no point of joining a fan club because they offer little value, correct?
I'm not sure how many of you have actually looked at the material that I wrote for the Garbage Experience Project (in the PDF document) but basically this is the same sentiment that I share and offer ideas of how to improve it.
The whole concept for a Garbage fan club that I proposed was to create something completely different from a typical fan clubs and one that holds high value to fans. The Bleed Like Me fan club was not run by the band and they are aware that many fans were very disappointed with the outcome of it. So while the past can't be changed, there are some great opportunities to create a new fan club that us Garbage fans think is awesome and provides some really cool experiences and tangible items to fans.
My suggestion is that if you have ideas for what might make an amazing fan club, share them here! Who knows, maybe some of them might actually happen!

No you understand very well my critic,i'm sorry if it wasen't clear enough due by bad english but the target of my critic wasen't focus on your job/idea but on the general mode to do of the Fans Club, with some exception like collectors theme Fans Club the others dosen't do what basically are suppost to do ,i'm been on many Official Fans Club (music,videogames.....etc) on the past and the result is been always the same i got 1 poster,1 pins 1 keyholder and a club card and STOP with one exception where i got every 2 months a magazine (The Fan Club of a famouse Softwere House)the others just taked my money for somenthig that probabily i could had found by mysealf. The wrost are those so called "Fan Club" like the Christina Aguilera Street Team that stay online just till the album is on the chart's (around 1 year) after close and dosen't open again till there is a new album leaving the fans on a "street".I had never done a subscription to that Club due my past bad experience but some my friend do that and the result was nothing but a classic Fan Club only some mods maybe get somenthing more if they taked xx numbers of new subscriptions I don't want do a polemic but if you read with attention my post i had put some idea - Live chat with the band - Streaming Concerts - Meeting with the band (after or before a concert) - chance to win tickes - Limited Merchandising but not just pins,posters...etc things like dvd,cd or some item like watchs, mouse pad FallenAngel P.S. Sorry if was too long to read

a cool fan club was the REM's one... 3 remarkable things, IMO, were: - fanclubbers had the chance to: get in the venue 30minutes before the others - and/or had a "fanclub zone" just for them in front of the stage (absolutely amazing) - a Christmas present every year.... a CD audio, DVD, Calendar etc etc... - promotional/tv gigs just for fans
(and for only $12)
