I was wondering what everyone would like to see Garbage perform again on the next tour - aside from the obvious big singles like Stupid Girl and Only Happy. And to give this a twist - what songs would you rather the band retired? For me I'd love to hear #1 Crush, A Stroke of Luck, My Lover's Box, Supervixen, Temptation Waits, You Look So Fine, Silence is Golden, Parade, Run Baby Run, and Boys Wanna Fight coming back next time. And hopefully hear Tell Me Where It Hurts live!" And this is probably not gonna be popular... I hope they don't play Vow for a while... it's not gonna happen cause they all seem to love the song, but I've heard it live so many times unless they rework it or drop the outro, I don't really need to hear it live again.

oooo love this topic!
For me it be songs I either love or never got the chance to hear on the tours I managed to catch them on:
Supervixen (*with the secret lyrics again*) / Temptation Waits/ Trip My Wire/ Subhuman (Love to hear it live)/Silence is Golden/ Nobody Loves You (will never happen but I can dream)/ You Look So Fine/ As Heaven Is Wide/Stroke of Luck/ Fix Me Now/ #1 Crush/ Androgyny/ Parade/ Medication/ Soldier Through This/Milk/ Tell Me where It Hurts/ Witness
None I'd really want to drop but the real biggies like Stupid Girl - be nice to hear something old instead for a while

I'd want to hear anything 'cause I've never seen them live. BUT, I think it would be cool if they played anything but the singles, ha ha. I second Trip My Wire. I'm the odd one out on this, I know it, but I'd love to hear Can't Cry These Tears. Used to enjoy bypassing that song on the disc in the past but then let it play one day on the iPod at work and really just loved the lyrics. Such a "fuck you, you're not getting the best of me anymore!" in a poppy, ballad-like way.

I would love to hear parade/til the day I die/ hammering in my head (didnt get that in australia last time around)...Would also like to hear queer again ( a definite highlight from the last tour) I wouldn't mind seeing special retired....maybe sex is not the enemy as well...AND NO MORE WDYCO...(ever)..... PS I think Paul committed the cardinal act of blasphemy by requesting Vow to be retired....shame on you!

Queer yes but I took it to fall into that "hits" category seen as it was played heavily on the BLM tour (and fab it was too!)

Yes, please:
Trip My Wire Betcha (OMG THIS WOULD BE SO FUN!) As Heaven Is Wide (the version from the Melkweg 1995 show gives the song entirely new life) Medication The Trick is to Keep Breathing Parade Right Between the Eyes Run Baby Run Tell Me Where It Hurts Hanging with the Bitches (hehe...like that will happen) Vow Queer Not My Idea Shut Your Mouth
I could pass on:
Metal Heart, Bad Boyfriend, Bleed Like Me, WDYCO, BWF, SINTE (though the visuals to go with this song were fantastic), Stupid Girl, When I Grow Up
I heard most of the "pass" songs on the BLM tour and while I like all but WDYCO and BWF, I'd rather hear something else (like an obscure b-side that no one has ever heard before because I'm that much of a nerd).
And because I am an uber nerd and glutton for punishment, I'd love to have them tour without an opener and do a short set of "bummer" songs / stripped down instrumentation, then a regular set after a break. My ultimate bummer set, in no particular order (take off the dupes from the above list and keep them here)...
All the Good in this Life, Medication, Kick My Ass, Nobody Can Win, So Like a Rose, Thirteen, Vow

I'd like to see them bring back that string quartet from the Glendale show for a few songs, along with what Rene posted about "bummer songs". That gave a new direction to the old songs, and gave them a new life.

So it's decided then! jk, our preferences are obviously pretty varied.
But I think it would make sense to do more BLM album stuff at locations where they never got around to playing in 2005 (because their touring was cut short)...like where I live!
There's so many that would be cool, but pre-BLM, the obvious ones for me would be Trip My Wire, their cover of Supernatural, #1 Crush, TTITKBreathing, Parade, BUTG...some less obvious cool ones would be maybe As Heaven Is Wide, TMWIHurts, Dumb. HammeringIMH isn't one of my favs from 2.0, but it sure is a fun one live. I know some of those were singles but I guess I'd define the huge ones as probably ITIP, Stupid Girl, OHWIR, Push It. They pretty much play 3 out of 4 of those every time. Funny enough, Push It and Stupid Girl are two of my favs while ITIP and OHWIR aren't even close to the top half of my fav Garbage songs. Those are the 2 the general public probably likes the most. They don't know what they're missing.
We shouldn't forget they should have new ones too!

I left space in my list for the new ones...and I figure not all of the ones in my list would get played

I'd say Cherry Lips & When I Grow Up could be retired while My Lover's Box, Trip My Wire, Temptation Waits & Milk should be brought back! I would also love to hear Androgyny again because it so much more powerful live than on record, but i know Shirley isn't too fond of that song.

I wonder if they'd consider doing the anti-tour? I know Kylie Minogue is considering it for her hardcore fan base.
How it goes is, when they route the tour around the bigger venues, in between the band play a smaller club gig to play acoustic and rare material - the stuff that the hardcore fans cream over - stuff that they can't really play on the big shows because they have to fit in new material amongst the big back catologue tracks.
This would be perfect for their bummer songs, old covers like Supernatural, b-sides and old album tracks like Sleep Together and Fix Me Now. The publicity that can be generated by these shows has much potential - local press, fanzines, online discussion, fan recordings.
I think Garbage are a perfect example of an act that could benefit from anti-touring. (PS I really hope Kylie does it too)

So Like a Rose. Oh I'd cry if I heard that live in person. Jen I have them on DVD two nights in a row doing this at the Wiltern here in LA doing that. I saw the second night. I sat right next to the taper.

Bit unrelated but I was just at a Suede gig last night and they played their entire first album in full followed by some rarities from that era (album no2 is tonight) - how cool would that be if Garbage performed "Garbage" followed by tracks like Subhuman, #1 Crush, Trip My Wire and Girl Don't Come?
