activision announced today that they are stopping production on all guitar hero games and peripherals. the company says a serious downturn in the music game demand is to blame. if you ask me it was overkill. releasing a game a year, plus all the DLC was just too much. if you want to see something funny, there are youtube videos of shirley and metallica recording their animated selves in what look like ping-pong ball covered spandex suits.

The problem is that the games were not profitable. Licensing that many songs and likenesses is expensive. I would have prefer more original songs instead of so many licensed songs, but I guess they didn't want to go in that direction.
