I just heard that there was an Earthquake of 5.8 magnitude just east of LA. I hope our west coast members are Ok.

i called my cousin in LA. he says everythings cool. he was there for the northridge quake in the early 90's. that collapsed freeways and caused power outages. this was nothing in comparison.

it was decided to be a 5.4 centered near chino hills, i think. i live in a smaller city near pasadena, and it wasn't bad at all. still, it seems that everyone else felt it a lot more.

It was about 1% of the 94 Northridge quake, not a major one by California standards. If this one occured in a third world country or actually most places other than California or Japan. This would have killed peole and caused major damage. Here we just cleaned up the fallen merchandise that fell off the shelves, and fixed the minor damage caused by broken glass, replaced/fixed older pipes (that needed replacement anyways). I was at work and ran out from under some big things in the werehouse area of the store that might have fell and hurt/killed me if they fell from the steel rafters.
