Wow!! I just got back from the show and it was fucking fantastic! They were amazing!!
Hurt Intro Queer Bad Boyfriend -- Order incorrect after this-- 1# Crush (Mixed up with PEACHES "Rock Show") I Think I'm Paranoid Boys Wanna Fight Why Do You Love Me Push It Metal Heart Nobody Can Win (Performed with just Shirley and Steve) Shut Your Mouth Cherry Lips Vow Stupid Girl Sex Is Not The Enemy Right Between The Eyes ENCORE (I'm pretty sure this is right) Bleed Like Me Special When I Grow Up
(If anyone else was there maybe you'll know the order)
I was in 6th row and I was so close to Shirley; she looked amazing. The show started with Queer and when they all came out everyone in the theatre stood up and went mad!! In fact, the crowd was very loud and enthusiastic all night, which was great! Everyone stood up the whole time, despite it being seated.
Bad Boyfriend came after Queer, but that's as far as I can remember in terms of the order the songs. All of the songs were just amazing live - It'd be very hard for me to pick a favourite! During 1# Crush Shirley started singing the lyrics to "Rock Show" which was awesome 'cause I love Peaches. Shirley and Steve also did a really beautiful version of Nobody Can Win.
Shirley was really chatty and funny. After one of the songs she got out the champagne and was drinking it out of her glass, when she decided that some of the audience members needed alcohol 'cause they looked down. So she then proceeded to hand out cups of champagne to people.
There was loads of funny moments (I can't remember them all!) such as when she was talking about how her mum always cries whenever she swears (apparently the reason she's in a band is because her mother never let her swear as a child, haha), or when she sung the banana boat song. There was also a moment where Shirley said that a girl in the front row wouldn't let them go on with the show unless they all signed her BG sleeve, so she took it and passed it around on stage for everyone to sign.
Shirley and the boys made it quite clear that they were NOT breaking up, but they did acknowledge the long break and seemed upset about this being their last show for a long time. Many of the band members, Butch in particular, were taking loads of pictures of the audience for memory. Shirley made each of the guys in the band come up to the microphone and talk about their time in Garbage. They made lots of funny comments (such as Butch saying how great it is being on the drums 'cause he gets to look at Shirley's ass all show long) and also thanked the fans. Shirley thanked Australia for being so supportive of the band and told us how much she loved Australia and the Aussie people. She even did an Aussie accent, which was hilarious.
I was worried that security would be very tight, but they were fine and didn't mind people taking pictures or anything. I'll post my pictures later when I get them developed.
I'll probably be able to add more in the morning.. I'm still so hyped about the whole experience and my mind is a bit fuzzy.
Sooo in conclusion.. They were just FANTASTIC!! What an experience.

I have like withdrawal symptoms. I got a garbage shirt, the one with the red x on the back. I don't know what to say about the show. Can't describe how magical it was. Feels like a dream :\ I was by myself so I felt like turning around to any random person and talking to them about the show when it was done. Bleh

In a small amount of disappointment regarding Vegas...I wished they did Run Baby Run because well, I want to run. So maybe it was a good thing. I swear, nothing beats basting that in my car driving 125 and well... (no wonder I got a speeding ticket) I could have been like, "Look officer, listen to this shit, tell me you wouldn't be driving 16 over" But he wouldn't have listened. He was only concerned with the fact that he got me right when it started to rain. I mean damn, get a fucking umbrella... And take a look at my car...does it look like it would spin out in the rain? Hell fuck no... I didn't spend upteen dollars on Ultra High Perfomance tires so I could flip my pimp ass ride!

I also wish they would have played RBR in vegas cause it is one of my favorite songs. pandi we have to race ill put my fine italian sport car up to yours. Oh baby, wait until I get my cold air intake because my car has no fucking pickup right now. Plus some jackass mother fuckers tried to break into it on Wednesday night and fucked up my window and door (passenger side). I am fuming about it but I LOVE my car and she put up one hell of a fight, never letting her window break so the stupid asses never got inside. I love my car..and yeah, I love it so much I would marry it...she gets me so hot, LMAO But I have 'sportstronic' and top speed like a bitch so if I can get the initial horsepower gain Ima blast the fuck outta the Mercedes and BMWs up here. Too bad the Ferraris will smoke my ass but it's all good because I look good in my car and they still give me props.

Psssst...first ya gotta spell it right: Murciélago Those ares are tiiiiiiiiiight cars though!!! Um, my car (and I) would just like drool on it... I saw a yellowish one at Walmart a while back. The paint on that car was so insane it didn't even look real. And how stupid do you have to be to actually park it in ONE spot with all the other cars. I park my car way out in the lot anywhere I go and take up 2 spaces and mine doesn't have 10x the value! But I've seen 3 (yellow, black & red) and they all look like a hologram straight out of a racing game.

I park my cars on the other side of the earth at stores. Funny thing though whenever I park on the otherside of the lot someone always parks next to me. I like the car it is sexy as hell but my wife has her eye on a Gallardo so we may be trading it in. Although nothing is sexier than a diablo.

That's something that does happen to me which is why I take up two spots. But I really almost died seeing that car parked like it was at Walmart. I guess if you can afford one in the first place, maybe you're really not all that concerned with someone running their shopping cart into it or whatever... My dream car...Ferrari Enzo. But I should stop talking about cars since it's not on topic.

aww what a great show it must have been!
I love that Garbage were so openly grateful to and excited about their fans...it must have been so cool to have them take pictures of you guys for their personal mementos. And Butch's comment about looking at Shirley's ass is classic!
I hope a DVD of one of these Oz shows comes out!

Here's a review that I typed up from Monday's West Australian newspaper:
Garbage Burswood Theatre, Saturday, October 1, Review: Simon Collins
If it wasn’t Garbage’s final show, it sure felt like it. The sonic alchemists who polished the discordant guitar riffs of grunge and alternative rock into solid gold canned the European dates that were to follow this Australia tour and announced that they were going – as drummer Butch Vig described it on Saturday night – on a “fucking long hibernation”. Despite assertions that Perth was not witnessing the last hurrah of Garbage after four excellent studio albums and thousands of gigs, sexy singer Shirley Manson couldn’t help but become swept up in the emotion. After ripping through Queer from their self-titled 1995 debut and Bad Boyfriend and Boys Wanna Fight from their latest effort, Bleed Like Me, she declared that there would be no tears, no histrionics – just plenty of great alterna-rock. Manson admitted that the band were embarrassed by ticket prices for the Garbage concert ($89.90) and invited a fan who had flown in from Singapore to come on down to the front of stage. Later she personally thanked individual die-hards who’d followed the band’s career since 1993, when the young Scottish siren joined three acclaimed American producers in what was meant to remain a studio project. We now know that no studio could contain Garbage’s sound and the quartet, joined on this tour by Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, emerged as a potent live entity. Masters of their craft with a fiery front woman to capture everyone’s attention, these veterans are among the tightest outfits around. The stage set-up on Saturday was deceptively simple. All the guitarists used remote packs, so there were no leads on stage – just three guitars, a drum kit and microphone stand, creating clean visuals to match the sharp sounds. There was no backdrop and the audience could see right back to the packing crates and rigging of the theatre. This unusual set-up created a real depth, which again matched the aural depth created by the layers of guitars. It also allowed Shirley to run laps of Vig’s drum kit during Only Happy When It Rains, one of her many songs dealing with depression and self-harm. Guitarist/keyboardist Steve Marker attempted to cheer her up with a bit of Baby Elephant Walk on the synth before Muppet Show classic Mahanama did the trick and narrowly averted a public meltdown. Bond soundtrack number The World Is Not Enough was dedicated to George W. Bush [Note: it was actually Metal Heart] and worked more on tense atmospherics than the brilliantly visceral Push It, from 1998’s Version 2.0. Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!) and I Think I’m Paranoid were clear crowd favourites, before Right Between The Eyes neatly described Garbage’s live intent and closed the main set. Much of the encore was taken up by the various members making speeches – which can be summarized as “No, we’re not breaking up but it’s been a fun ride”. Vig, seen as the instigator of the hiatus, brought some levity to proceedings by announcing; “Every night I get to watch Shirley Manson’s ass”. Luckily, there was space in the encore to dish out three more treats – Bleed Like Me, Special and the rather apt When I Grow Up. Fan-bloody-tastic.
There's also a mini review of the show that Butch and Duke put on the night before at the Flying Scotsman pub in Mt Lawley (accompanied by a very funny picture of Butch behind the mic with an afro wig on):
Dickles Party
Perth's worst kept secret was that the Dickles, featuring Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and various crew members, would be rocking Mt Lawley pub the Flying Scotsman on Friday night. The joint was chockers, in part thanks to one imbecilic radio announcement that Garbage would be playing. There was no Shirley and no Garbage hits, just a bunch of blokes wearing mullet wigs and blowing off some steam by bashing out a shambolic set of rock covers, including AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys, the Stones and the ilk. Numbers thinned out as the reality dawned but it was still an enormously enjoyable and boozy evening, with the Dickles drinking around nine bottles of vodka between them and the party spilling out into Beaufort Street. The Scotsman hosted the Dickles sixth or seventh ever gig; their first was at city pub the Grosvenor in 2002 when Garbage were here for the Big Day Out. It was hard to believe that half of Garbage rocked my local and can’t wait for the Dickles national tour, Hold the Dickles, mooted for 2010.
