I couldn't agree with you less. It is a good song, but it doesn't have the longevity of the likes of Biology, No Good Advice or Love Machine. Plus Rachel Stevens has got the charisma of a soiled pair of knickers. Anyway, it was originally offered to Girls Aloud but their management turned it down as they wanted to work soley with Xenomania on What Will The Neighbours Say? And a very good decision it was too.

I've never really liked that song but it's an ok cover. I saw the vid yesterday and thought the same - nicola looks great! She's my favourite too, ever since watching her in the auditions with her bright pink socks on ;D (plus I always feel I have a duty to support redheads..)

Boyz, plz. Don't hate. These girls are fantastic. The cover is crap, true, but it will sell tons & it's for a good cause. Judge them not by a shitty charity single - GA is the most adventurous pop group on earth. On a good day, they rival Annie, Ladytron, and Goldfrapp for hyperkinetic synthpop genius. (And that's no joke).

Goldfrapp & Ladytron are in a completely different class to Girls Aloud. i can kinda see slight influence in their music. but they are not on the same scale as the aforementioned. girls aloud do not write their own music and are a manufactured band. im not bashing them because i know they have great voices. compared to other pop bands out there, id consider them ace! haha.... on a wider scale theyre just not my cup of tea. each to their own i spose...

You don't understand. I'm not talking about the songwriting & recording process (by the way, they DO write some of their material), or them as "artists" in the musician sense. That has to be made clear first so you can appreciate the context this is being discussed in. I am talking about the final product: it is often truly remarkable, not only on the level of "fun pop", but as innovative music, period. Xenomania are musical savants, it's a widely recognized fact. There IS a reason this band has so much critical acclaim whereas many "pop" acts do not. They've been ranked by very respectable magazines among the Top 10 most exciting artists in the UK, and landed the top spot of a 2005 online critics' ranking of the "Top 30 Artists Making Music In The UK", beating out the likes of Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, M.I.A., and Bloc Party; They regularly get 4 and 5 star reviews for their albums and have been hailed "saviors of pop music". What turns the hesitant away is their mainstream presence and tendency to attract young fans (oh, what a surprise - young girls like to watch their idols sing catchy songs, my what a crime!). But they actually have quite a few "nontraditional fans" on their side, too. You could easily stick Ladytron's name on "Models" and anyone who wasn't already convinced it was the sickest thing they've heard in ages WOULD BE THEN. The prefab context holds some people back, but if you get over it and LISTEN TO THE MUSIC ITSELF & IT'S TREMENDOUS PRODUCTION, you'll see. Xenomania = Phil Spector of the 2000s. Butch Vig must be in total awe of them.
Oh, and by the way, in case you're mistaking me for some kind of misguided poptimist: I'm not, generally. Girls Aloud are the exception, not the rule. But I refuse to keep a closed mind. I can appreciate Girls Aloud and Pere Ubu equally, in different ways. Good music is good music, no matter who makes it or how it gets made.
Ask RICHARD - I'm sure he'll attest to this!

Thnank God they show very little interest in writing their own material. It's when groups like this start to take themselves too seriously that they go down the shitter. The girls should leave the writing and producing to Xenomania, and stick to what they do best: singing fabulously whilst looking gorgeous and deranged. This group is soooooooo good at the kitsch-bitch thing...it's a lot of the appeal for me. The more make-up, hairspray and attitude the better!!!
And yes, Nicola is an underrated goddess.
Oh, and you can guarantee that this cover of Walk This Way wil be number one in the UK on release. It's the UK's 2 biggest girl bands teamng up with one of it's biggest charities...the actual song is pretty much moot (and a good job too cos it's pretty piss-poor).

i like a few of there songs.
but there vids sell them and the fact they dont wear nothing sells them. true shirley is hot but i like her voice.
they have got talent but doing covers of good songs is bad. it will be number one because the UK is chav central and its for charity.
