Yah, I too was surprised read that Butch didn't like "Wicked Ways." But when he said that, he might have mean't that he was not happy with the final edit of that song. Or maybe he does think it was a b-side second-rate quality song. There are so many b-side songs that this band has made that I think are first-rate quality, and there's enough content there in those b-sides for two more totally awesome three Garbage album releases, ...ARRRRRGH!!!! This part of Joss' journal was of special interest to me ... "Someone also asked about the Manson vs. Manson song. Apparently it's a cover of Human League's "Don't you Want me Baby", and they said 1. there were more legal issues, 2. They aren't doing anything with it and basically it's just sitting there, and 3. Butch said he might think about just leaking it onto the internet and doing us all a favor."... because at www.livejournal.com/ someone (female) has posted an entry on this blog site dated 11-29-2006 in which she has listed her b-side Garbage song collection from the S/T, v2.0, and BG era (31 song titles), and the last song she has listed in her b-side collection is "Don't You Want Me Baby." But, at end of her list she writes: "I have all those except Candy Says and Don't You Want Me Baby." The reason I have not presented here a direct link to this webpage at www.livejournal.com/ where this b-side list with "Don't You Want Me Baby" is posted is because there are three mp3 song download links on this same webpage (two of them are Garbage tracks) that I know are copyrighted songs. In my search on the web for the Manson & Manson duet of "Don't You Want Me Baby," I came away with this consolation prize: 8MM Live In-studio - "Don't You Want Me" www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKqeKEj3L_4

Oh, that's Joss' site. She definitely is a member of this board, dyskrasia ... but doesn't post as often as she should be. I miss Joss. AWESOME!!! Ever see the comedy movie Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, Amy Smart, and Chris Klein? I think I've viewed that movie more than 30 times now. And the soundtrack CD from that movie is full of great songs too. I'm mentioning here Just Friends cause whenever I use the word 'awesome', an image automatically pops into my mind of Ryan Reynolds (as Chris Brander) saying the word "awesome!" And in that movie, when he would say word "awesome!," he was often thinking the very opposite of 'awesome' as in ..."oh shit, no!" I highly recommend Just Friends for a Holiday Season comedy movie (best viewed in the month of December as the time setting of this movie is in the month of December).

HOLY CRAP!!! This is a totally awesome blog-journal post ... At this link - www.tripmywire.net/blog/?cat=7 - I've copied and pasted the intro to this blog-journal post: Garbage Video February 1st, 2005 Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t updated in awhile (does anyone read this anymore?)…I’ve been pretty busy lately…For those of you who didn’t know, 80 people including myself were chosen to be in the new Garbage video. We shot our stuff yesterday at the old Herald Examiner building in Los Angeles. If you’ve been waiting awhile for some new Garbage sounds, just wait till you get a listen to their new stuff, because I was blown away. Butch and Duke kindly answered all the questions we were able to ask, and they gave me their autographs. I didn’t get to talk to Steve much, but I did get his autograph, too, and I told him he rocked. Shirley was fantastic (what were you expecting?). I stood behind Butch for most of the shoot, so look for me when the video airs. Anyway, I wrote up a more detailed description of my experience here ( tripmywire.net/garbage.html ). It’s very, very long, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. Garbage Video Shoot Why Do You Love Me 31 January 2005 tripmywire.net/garbage.htmlHer home page is: tripmywire.net/That this Garbage board is arguably the most popular one on the web, the thought has crossed my mind that she might be a member on this board or at least an occasional visitor.

Is there a way to get a downloadable version of it or is it just on youtube? Sure, just use www.youtubecatcher.com/ to download the video from youtube. You can convert it afterwards to a mp3 file if you want to. Another freeware tool source for capturing YouTube video on your PC harddrive, and for making mp3 audio files from YouTube and other video file types is at www.dvdvideosoft.com/ "Dvdvideosoft" has all kinds of freeware 'video to video' and 'video to audio' conversion tools. I spend several hours each day exploring the web for all things Garbage & Shirley Manson. I'll be keeping an eye out for a high quality download of this "Crushingly Close" video on YouTube. If and when I find one, I'll post it on this board.

When you google "Closer to Grrls", the first link that shows is "Portishead Mp3 Download." This is a Hungarian website. It shows more tech info on a "Closer to Grrls" mp3 download. It's recorded in mono sound, and at a very poor 18K bitrate. ...Fuggedaboudit.

Nope, never heard of it! There is an excellent mash-up of "#1 Crush" and "Closer" by NIN. This was just posted on YouTube yesterday. This is the best YouTube posting of this Garbage/NIN mashup I've seen yet: youtube.com/watch?v=f6Q0fmfnuY4

Has anyone heard a Portishead/Poe/Garbage/NineInchNails mash-up track titled "Closer to Grrls" mixed by "ether@claas" in 1999?
Found it listed on the web. I haven't heard it yet.
Google "Closer to Grrls"
Nine Inch Nails has a track titled "Closer to God." So I'm going to hazard a guess that "Closer to Grrls" is a play on the title "Closer to God," and the backbone sound of this mash-up is "Closer to God."

Another website mistakenly identifying this song as Garbage: www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858525247At the bottom of the webpage [in the above link], a member of that website "xShatter5Veinzx" writes: "This isn't really a Garbage song, although the vocals do sound quite a bit like Shirley Manson, it's actually by Kristen Barry...It's off the Cruel Intentions soundtrack i believe." Kristen Barry's only album on Amazon. Interesting to read the reviews: www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B000000WB4/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_helpful/104-5085355-3813558?ie=UTF8&n=5174#customerReviews30-second samples of all the songs on her "The Beginning. The Middle. The End" album: (I'm unable to fix the problem with this next link. If you google "kristen barry", the first link shown is Artistdirect.com and that link will work. It's the same link address I've posted here, but it refuses to function properly on this board.) www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/card/0,,551053,00.html When I started looking at this "Ordinary Life" listing anomaly, I was entertaining the thought that Shirley might have done some 'moonlight' recording under the alias name of Kristen Barry. I figured if authors are doing it, maybe recording artists are doing it too. But alas, *it appears* Kristen Barry is a real person. It's very hard to find info on her. This small blurb on Kristen Barry on the Rhapsody website: www.rhapsody.com/kristenbarry"With her strong and emotional voice, danceable rhythms, big guitar sound, driving hooks and a 1996 release on Virgin, it's hard to understand why Barry isn't a bona fide star. Be that as it may, her music will appeal to anyone who appreciates Sinead O'Connor's voice or the punch in Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know."" --Will Lerner Kristen Barry

One of the coolest facts about Butch Vig that I know of, and perhaps only second to the fact that he produced Nirvana's Nevermind album, is the fact that Butch was president of a Roxy Music fan back in the '80s.
Hey, with all that talent we've witnessed so far in Butch and the rest of the Garbage crew, this band is incapable of producing a bad album.
And so what if they produce a country album. Imagine a few country songs by Garbage making it into the Billboard top 10 chart of country hit songs in the USA ... LMAO. Pulling off a stunt like that may be a challenge that a cutting-edge band like Garbage might find irresistable to go after at some point in the future.
I love Butch's 'never say never' open-mindedness when he speculates on the kind of music sounds for Garbage he's going to be producing in the future.
I'll listen enthusiastically to any kind of music that features the voice of our beloved Shirley. Heck, I'll listen enthusiastically to a Buddhist chant featuring the voice of our beloved Shirley.

Hey zardoz. I've thought the same thing about that Dog New Tricks live remix. It's not the same as the studio remix b-side I have (pal mix). Shirley sings a cool new melody that starts with "nothing you learn, will blah, blah, etc..." then Duke does one of his fill-like solos that's cool too. First time I heard it I thought "wow, that's a real improvement on one of S/T's weaker songs". Is there a studio version that's done like this? Or a even just a live version that has a better mix than 8-17-96? I have yet to hear the studio "Pal Mix" of DNT. I'll be going to Ebay soon to land that sucker. I'm very reluctant to use a credit card on a Russian website to do that $0.15 cent a song download stuff.

Include on your list your favorite song performance(s) from a concert audio recording. Example: Dog New Tricks, 8-17-96, Birarre Festival (I never tire of listening to this live track of DNT. I always prefer listening to it over the studio version.) Some of my full concert favorites (all are available at garbagecollector.org/)1) 11-15-95, Opera House, Toronto, Canada 2) 8-17-96, Bizarre Festival, Cologne, Germany -- great in video too 3) 1996, "Not My Idea" live bootleg album -- I haven't identified the origin of these live tracks yet. It may be a compilation of two or more concerts on this bootleg album. 4) 7-1-99, Princess St. Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland -- great in video too I know of two sites that offer reference info and reviews on concert audios and videos: Andy's Live Garbage Shows Collection www.geocities.com/andys1014/index.htmlGarbage Is Not The Enemy garbageisnottheenemy.com/I just downloaded 20 concert audio files from garbagecollector.org, and will soon begin to review them all. In this thread, I'll be reporting on the audio 'diamonds' that I find in 'ruff' of these concert audio files. I'll be reporting on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (couldn't pass up saying that) in these concert audio files.

Vow live w/ Shirley & Butch interview on London 104.9 XFM. This is their first live performance in the BLM era. Airdate: March 2005? www.garbage.cz/download/mp3/vow_xfm_music_response.mp3Right click and "save target as" to download it. This download is the same one I posted in the thread "2 mp3 downloads - Vow & WDYLM live on London XFM." Dan has moved that thread to the Garbage Dump. I'm acknowledging 'my bad' here: My apology to Dan and everyone on the board for my opening of a second thread containing the same download link. I should have just modified the title and info content in my "2 mp3 downloads - Vow & WDYLM live on London XFM" thread instead of opening this second thread.

I think its funny how we as garbage fans have our own language. example how we name songs using the first letter of each word iaobtc, butg, ohwir and so on. Has a "song title acronym list" thread been launched yet? Would "song title acronym list" be a good title for that thread? I'd love to have a print-off of a "song title acronym list." My brain continues to trip over some of these song title acronyms. A print-off of a "song title acronym list" would put an end to that problem. Anyone can start this "song title acronym list" thread. If no one else starts it, I'll eventually get around to launching it.

Ah, very interesting. Yah, that makes sense. I was thinking "starting time." So I Googled "self titled" and "acronym" together and came up with this webpage that shows 150 possible meanings for the acronym "ST": acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/Self+TimedI copied and pasted the following from that webpage: "ST Self-Titled (also seen as S/T)"

I know it's refering to the debut album era. But this "S/T" acronym has me stumped.
