Supposedly it'll be produced by the same guy who's produced Slipknot and Limp Bizkit records.
Why, Robert, why?!

YOu mean Ross Robinson...aka...producer of Nu Metal records.
While we are at it why did The Cure let Kodak use Pictures of You for some stupid commerical...Or even a better question why did Robert Smith work on Blink 183's new album....okay I have no more questions.

Robert Smith doesn't own the rights for the songs in the album Disintegration, where Pictures of You was, due to some weird contractual disagreements with the label Fiction. I don't think it was his idea to have that song on the commercial
and about Blink 182, I don't know. I always hated Blink 182 but I actually gave the new record a few spins and it's not as vomit-inducing as the rest of their albums. I think with the exception of Feeling This, there's some maturity in the album.
At least there's no "Fuck a Dog Pt. 2"

The Cure probably doesn't own the publishing rights to their songs. Not many artist can afford them. I bet that is how it got in a commerical.
I hear their new album is decent... but as far as Blink goes live...well they are bar none the suckiest band I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. I just saw them a few months ago at some festival and they were rotten. The two guys who talk like girls in the band sounded as if they had never played guitar in their life. They were completly off cue. And they sounded exactly the same (very bad) when I had seen them play a year earlier. They even admit they don't practice......I wonder how that drummer deals with it....

There is a thing called "Compulsary Licensing" associated with a lot of distribution deals. You pay, and they have to let you use it. Period.
