Studio Diary #16 February 16-21st NEW!!!
Monday
Went to the All Star game yesterday and love love LOVED it!!! Oh my goodness.......all these delicious specimens of manhood under one roof was almost too much to bear.It was so dreamy...
Relished Xtina's rendition of the National Anthem quite considerably. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.A lady standing next to me turned around at the end and asked quite sincerely "What was THAT?!"
I chose to shrug in response.Afterall, I stopped trying to make sense of that a long time ago.
Tuesday
Had a very pleasant meeting this morning with producer Tony Hoffer. We're thinking of recording a couple of tracks with him next month whilst John takes a few weeks off to record with Beck.
It was good to get up and out of the appartment before noon for once and to have coffee outside in the sunshine. It's still pretty chilly here though. For some reason I assumed it would be warmer.I've never been in LA during the winter so I didn't realise that it actually does get colder here during the winter months. That said......it's hardly winter weather and I keep thinking about our imminent return to Madison next week.Eeeeeeech......it's going to come as quite a shock to our systems I suspect.
Wednesday
God I fucking hate being in the studio. It's such a fucking drag.(I am swearing far too much. It's moronic.I have GOT to get a grip.)But seriously........yesterday was spent re-doing all the guitar parts from the day before, which was spent re-doing the guitar parts from the day before THAT!!!!! I swear to god..........3 whole days of the same song!!! It's driving me CRAZY!!!!!
Ok....so it's nobody's fault cause there have been all kind of tuning problems and tone problems etc etc. and it can't be helped and all that but it makes me want to go and smash up all the equipment.I try to be patient but this is just ridiculous!! Three whole days of my life, washed down the drain.
I feel in some ways that my tolerance levels have expanded as a result from all the years in recording studios but at the same time I also feel that I'm also reaching the end of my tether.
Thursday
Had a disastrous hair-colouring experience yesterday.Just as my hair was begining to look really good,it's taken a decidedly odd turn for the worse.I don't know what to do about it.I just keep loking in the mirror with despair written right across my face.
I've got yellow streaks in it!!!! It's HIDEOUS.
Friday
When I was a little girl I used to like to eat the head off burnt matches because I really loved the salty, carbon taste for some reason. Needless to say it's an unbelievably unhealthy habit and for the most part I now have it under control but this morning as I was lighting some candles, I blew out the match and immediately my saliva glands went into overtime and I could feel the compulsion to do it again.Mercifully I had the willpower not to but isn't that bizarre?!?!?! I wonder if I need to consult a doctor!!!!!!!
Saturday
I've started to learn how to box and ooooohhhhhhh I'm LOVING it!!! It's crazy.........the sudden surge of adrenelin that courses through your body as you begin to sweat and your heart rate speeds up and you're punching so hard that your stomache hurts.I can tell that this is absolutely something that I was born for because I have taken to it like a duck to water.
At first....when I caught sight of myself with boxing gloves on in the mirror,my first reaction was one of extreme embarassment.I can't quite articulate why.It was almost as though I felt like a phoney and was being caught attempting to behave like someone other than myself. Then I decided to shake off my inhibitions and just immerse myself in the POWER of the fantasy......and that was when the beast in me was released!!!!!! Needless to say I haven't looked back since.
It's a very alien experience as a woman to pick up boxing gloves for the first time and learn how to actually punch. To learn how to harness the power of my body is not something I have ever learned or been encouraged to do.
Oh my god....... the new IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING ad for ADIDAS came on TV as I was typing this and the ad opened on my darling Timothy's naked back and his sexy tattoos .Oh smelling salts.....I need some smelling salts.
