Last week's chart, in which TMWIH dropped below #100 (i've no idea where it settled, but it's still in top 200), the remastered mix of Stupid Girl entered the UK 200 on downloads, giving the song another week in it's UK chart life, 11 years after it left the UK chart. -

Can I just point out that since the UK chart runs now officially include the top 200 (due to downloads) and has been backdated, means the "Special" now has the longest chart run of any UK Garbage single.

The UK Singles Chart, from the week after WDYLM charted at #7, was changed to incorporate downloads. Thus the OCC created two new charts that week so that Physical singles and Digital sales could be ranked separately - both charts making up the final "UK Singles chart"
So on both these new charts, which begun on WDYLM's second week in stores, WDYLM charted at #14 physical and #22 on downloads, and overall at #16 in the final singles chart.
SINTE charted at #21 on the physical chart, no showing on the digital chart and at the #24 spot on the final chart, and as we all know TMWIH made #15 physically, no digital ranking and #50 on the final singles chart.
This shows that Warner need to promote Garbage's digital sales - which will be by mostly casual fans. Hardcore fans will buy all the physical formats - we've proved that single after single after single, but how many of us hardcore fans bought a copy on iTunes, just for the sake of one more chart record?
I know I did, just to see if I could get iTunes to work in advance of the AG edition with ATGITL, but I bet not many other people would have bothered. Even if Garbage released 2 exclusive mixes of TMWIH on iTunes and Napster, say and acoustic version and a rock remix or soemthing, all those sales would have counted towards the final chart.
Rihanna's label exploited this by releasing new remixes of Umbrella every other week which kept her download sales up while her physical sales went into freefall after the fourth week at #1 (out of 10 in the end).

Glad to see Stupid Girl back in the charts. It would be even better if it climbs up further.

I still can't believe it's back on the charts, especially after a decade absence! I guess it's so mind-blowing because they haven't reissued it as an actual single, ala Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Now I kinda wonder how often this has happened before...

Due to downloads, any song can chart in the UK now. The top 75-200 places are usually full up of old tracks, or novelty stuff - the Simpsons' Spider Pig song is in the top 75 as we speak.
Those spots are also clogged with the big tracks by bands. Smells like teen spirit, mr brightside, Maneater.... all those songs have been hanging around in the UK chart constantly since the download rules were brought in at the start of the year.

I'm sorry, but
Simpson's Spider Pig > Stupid Girl.
Lol.
Cool to see stuff creeping back into the charts though.

I thought Spider Pig was the worst gag in the film. I dunno why everyone is clinging onto it.

I was hoping that SG would maybe hang on for another week, as the midweek downloads for it were in the 140 range, and it would be interesting to see if it beat out TMWIH, which will come as a surprise to no-one has left the UK top 200 after 2 weeks.
