I was there for the Tempe show! Missed the Tucson one, unfortunately... Tempe was great. I got their about 3.5-4 hours before the doors opened and ended up being one of the first people in line. All I can say is think God there was shade where I was standing. It was sweltering. Ugh.
The show itself was fantastic. I was lucky enough to wind up front row, pretty close to center, so I got a great view. The band was super energetic and just seemed really psyched to be there. They played "Medication," "When I Grow Up," and "Big Bright World" during sound check (which we could all hear while waiting, despite the Marquee staff's repeated attempts to shoo us away, keep all doors closed, etc. They really didn't want us to overhear for some reason. Ha.) Despite that, though, they didn't play any of those songs during the show... Not that I'm complaining. I thought the show was perfect as it was. I stuck around afterwards and was lucky enough to walk away with a setlist. So I am pretty pleased.
Hoping some video will surface on YouTube soon, though, surprisingly, I didn't see as many cameras in Tempe as I did in L.A. Don't know if the Marquee had some policy against them, or what. I got a couple of pictures, but they are all crappy, iPhone quality. Hoping someone else had more luck.
I was there too and can confirm all of the above is true. Yeah the security was really tough on us darklings. We were just curious to hear a new song. Same goes for after the show we waited near the barriers to the backstage. Eric Avery came out and signed a few autographs but was quickly rushed away by security guards and we were told to clear out or we would get arrested for trespassing. Ugh. Come on. Really? So no I didn't get my picture signed but still had a great time. I was up front as well with the above poster.
Dance Away: And, Elvis Costello's wife is Diana Krall. Oh god, do I love the music of Diana Krall! And, I know it's an aspiration of Shirley to do the kind of music that Krall is doing. Shirley's mother was a 'big band' music singer (sample "Glenn Miller" big band)

david0913: Oh my, this is too deep to believe; the amount of conceptualization and depth of the discourse can only make me feel...what do you guys talk about on here, anything [sigh]?

orthodoxparadox36: I think that album actually saved, well, a few of the most important things in my life. I am eternally grateful for the way you all chose to dedicate your collective creative genius; something which makes it that much more special, not to mention, genuine!
