Their marketing for the album so far has been awsome and a big part of that is because they are genuine...aside from all the great interviews and such, they've been interacting with us...sharing with us and responding as intelligent and caring human beings. That goes a very long way.
And on top of that, the music is good. Its a great formula for success. They've never really fit into any molds and I think the timing is right...the world is ready right now for a band like Garbage.

An example being a UK girlgroup called Sugababes, they released a video, promoted on tv and there was a big advertising campaign for their song, but radio stations refused to play it and support them, so they ended up giving it away for free on Amazon.co.uk. You are forgetting that the Sugababes brand is now utter poison. After what happened with firing Keisha Buchanan, the Sugababes will never have the support to get another hit single. Giving away the song for free, to me, looks like a marketing decision designed to make a positive spin on the early leak last weekend. Now the band can reap free marketing research by getting current email addresses to further market the upcoming tour and album. The band dont need hardcore fans to buy the single, what they actually need is the general public to buy it, and then the sales of the album and everything else will then fall into place. Right now the general public arent aware of the song, or remember a band called Garbage. Its not as if the hardcore fans havent had a bad copy of the song for the last week on their hard drives and iPods anyway.

Exactly Paul. Us Darklings will buy the album. Which is why they gave it to us for free. Now we will spread the word and let out friends, who are not hard core fans listen to our iPod.

FallenAngel, we are joking And Remixes don't always sound more electronic (Wicked mix of Milk for instance). well i just guessed was a chance ...however usually remixes are maded to be more disco friendly, the idea is that since G are promoting their job they could had some idea different to the normal labels as made a first fake singol to give to some radio when on reality this was a a remix or just a normal song...anything is possible..about the name i'm not agree many do on this way (use the same name + Remix by Dj X)so wasen't so wrong suppouse ,any band or singer ..ok was a joke but at the end the idea could be good so i taked it as a serius speach...... And if i was Garbage, and my 1st single leaked in shitty 128 kb/s quality, and chances are a lot of casual fans wouldn't buy & download a HQ version of the track later, ...i'd atleast WANT them to hear the track in all it's HQ glory! I'm sure a lot of people are replacing the leaked mp3 with this one on their iPods today, and it DOES sound a lot better... which might better convince people to buy the album. it's a good thing.

This is a very good thing. Amazon's rankings have been going higher and higher and steady for the past 24 hours since the release, and we don't even have a video for it yet. The buzz is going around now, and now we can wait and Garbage can reap the benefits later once the actual video and album come out.

Ohk. Just me then. It just comes up with a blank page and at the bottom says "I'm sorry, there are no products to purchase "

Check your downloads. It says that even if the DL happened. Said it for me and the DL worked fine.
