So, who else likes? My favorite band after Garbage to be honest, Adore and Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness are some of the best albums i own, not really digging their stuff since Zeitgeist though... Favorite member in the band is D'arcy, I really love her voice (Daydream ) and her attitude, plus I love her playing style. My favorite bass player ever really, she's kinda inspired me to learn to play.

I love the Smashing pumpkins! My favorite albums are siamese dreams, melon collie and adore! I think Adore is their best album. In 1998, Smashing pumkins release Adore and one month later Garbage release Version 2.0, this year Garbage release Not your kind of people and in one month Smashing pumpkins release new album "oceania".Kind of funny isn't it?

The Pumpkins are legends and I do really love them, really looking forward to the re-issue of Mellon Collie later this year, that album is absolutely stunning and one that everyone should own.

I loved earlier Smashing Pumpkins but honestly they haven't made anything that good since Machina. I heard a few Teargarden songs and they were terrible, and the new guys drums don't exactly shine a light on J.C., can't say I'm that excited for Oceania but who knows

I can't wait for the Mellon Collie re-release either!! Plus Billy tweeted there would be an alternative take of XYU on the bonus disc, and I love that song and i'd love to hear it! I'm interested to hear Oceania but it's not really on my 'albums i must buy' list.

They are an all-time great! I love them. I had an opportunity to see them last year, but the ticket was a bit more than I'm willing to pay for for a post-Zeitgeist SP.

There were a lot of things keeping me away from Smashing Pumpkins in recent years (bad songs and even worse gigs, mostly), but just as Oceania was warming me up to Corgan once again, he does stupid things like this: hipstersunited.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/corgan-calls-iha-one-of-the-worst-human-beings-ive-ever-met/www.nme.com/news/smashing-pumpkins/64278Really, it must be said that the guy is a hypocrite. He's writes all these lovey-dovey songs with lyrics about love and peace and brotherhood. He's even been writing a book, apparently titled "God is Everywhere from Here to There". But then he opens his mouth and out pops all this sort of stuff. There goes all my remaining good will for the guy.

Out of curiosity I streamed Oceania yesterday and regardless of what you think of the new SP line up it's actually a very good album .
I've never been a die hard SP fan but I do own most of their records. do admire them for the work they produced over the years.

I streamed it after reading surprisingly positive reviews and I'm underwhelmed frankly. It's more of the same really, sonically it's sounds like American Gothic, so better than the Teargarden crap but still nothing spectacular

I'm seriously in love this new album, so much better than the Teargarden songs and Zeitgeist! But then he opens his mouth and out pops all this sort of stuff. There goes all my remaining good will for the guy. I really wanna know what James did that got him so mad in another interview Billy said he felt sorry for D'arcy and that he had no ill will towards her, so wtf did James do? Out of curiosity I streamed Oceania yesterday and regardless of what you think of the new SP line up it's actually a very good album . I've never been a die hard SP fan but I do own most of their records. do admire them for the work they produced over the years. Don't get me wrong, I love Zeitgeist and the older stuff, it's just the Teargarden songs were much better live and not messed up in the studio versions but Oceania sounds like a whole full band again and and is pretty damn amazing.

Me too I think that song is long gone now though Yea, I think Billy even said they had no plans to record it. It's such a great song though, I don't get why they wouldn't...ah well. Speaking of SP... ICANNOTWAITUNTILTHEPISCESISCARIOTREISSUECOMESOUT!

I really wanna know what James did that got him so mad in another interview Billy said he felt sorry for D'arcy and that he had no ill will towards her, so wtf did James do? I'm guessing it has something to do with that big lawsuit James and D'arcy filed a few years back. Their original recording contracts [from the early 90's] never mentioned anything about digital sales, but since 2000 Billy and Virgin have made a lot of money selling the original SP catalogue on iTunes and Amazon, but James and D'arcy aren't entitled to any performance royalties at all. But because Jimmy re-signed in 2006, he's been able to buy himself some $2m mansions. Hardly seems fair to me. I really feel bad for James and D'arcy. Billy has been dragging the lawsuit out for 5 years now with technicalities and continuations and whatnot. If Billy were to settle the suit now, whatever James or D'arcy get now would probably barely cover their legal expenses. But... moving on. I must admit, "Quasar" is really growing on me. It's easily the best SP album opener since Mellon Collie.

Loving Oceania regardless of band/lineup drama, because sadly, I've come to expect that kind of stuff from SP, so it comes as no surprise...
I agree, with homeostasis: this feels to me like the best SP album since Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. I love it.
