So Courtney is back for real. Nice. From her MySpaz blogs it sounded like she was very proud of the new material and worked very hard.

I'm loving this record. I think it was well worth the wait. A little overproduced maybe, but still a great album. Already ordered it on vinyl, of course.

Highlights: Nobody's Daughter, Honey, Someone Else's Bed, Pacific Coast Highway, Samantha and For Once In Your Life.
As much as I loved the demo, I really dislike the new version of Dirty Girls - it sounds so weird - I dont' like how the first half sounds so lo-fi and then it goes all glossy. Otherwise the album exceeded my expectations :-)

Reading through this thread, would you all recommend me to check out Hole?

Without question if you have not heard Hole's material through Celebrity Skin you must. Start there. If you have the chance to see them live, it's probably worth it even though Courtney is the only remaining original member. Looks like there's a really good Hole trading community, too.

Sure thing. I'll look into it tomorrow.

I personally like Celebrity Skin best, it's probably their most accessible album, but Live Through This is probably their most popular.

I was never a major fan of Hole, though I have liked a few of their songs in the past. From my first listens of 'Nobody's Daughter', it is a well produced and focused album.
I'm glad to see Courtney has pulled it together to make this decent effort. It's probably safe to say that fears of this album being a forced or contrived Hole album can be disregarded.

I'm listening through "Live Through This" right now. How the hell did I go so long without? This is amazing.

Live Through This is very visceral...I think it's an amazing piece of work. Celebrity Skin is quite good, as well, but I always felt like Live Through This was a notch above in terms of raw emotion. They're good in different ways. I haven't actually heard much from the stuff before Live Through This. I should probably fix that.

I'm in love with Honey, Someone Else's Bed, PCH and Nobody's Daughter. Samantha's still good but I miss the "you can lead a whore to water..." bit and the pop version of Dirty Girls that leaked a few years back, in my opinion, is far superior to this nod to the rougher original.

Their debut Pretty On The Inside is very dark and raw, somewhat looser and less polished than Live Through This. It was produced by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth so as expected it's very noisy and and has no shortage of weirdly tuned squealing guitars.

I streamed it from the Facebook page. I'm not really sure how I feel about it to be honest. A few songs stuck out but really, I didn't really like it that much as a Hole album.

Just listened to it this morning. Think it starts off very very well but by that Dear God song I think it looses it - I'll re listen nearer the gig. Liked bits of it but I'm not entirely sold just yet

I am in awe at the title track. I think it's a great album until about 7 songs in then it goes a bit MOR and then the last two songs are pretty raw and cool.

Like I said its starts off very strong and its pretty solid. Don't hate any of it but Letter to God I think is dreadful

I love this album. Love love love. And with Letter to God... I have a demo that leaked of it like 2 years ago and it doesn't have that awful guitar in the intro. Just piano. Its much much better. I'm so happy to have this album. After 5 years of refreshing Courtney Love's myspace obsessively waiting for a real release date I got it! I mother fucking god it. Today... will be a good day... god dammit.
