There is so much new music out there right now, what is everyone listening to?
I've been listening a lot to Metric, Cage the Elephant, and Humanlab. I heard Metric and Cage the Elephant on kroq and Humanlab at the street fair in huntington beach.
What new music are you guys listening to?

REALLY digging IAMX - Kingdom of Welcome Addiction. I had high expectations and they were easily surpassed.
Lunic - Lovethief Second full length album from violinist / violist / pianist / vocalist Kaitee Page. Very cool stuff. Find it on iTunes or at Sellaband.com. What's really neat about the album is the fans funded the album's creation. Rock + violins + smart lyrics = win.
I'm also really liking some stuff that's new to me but not new (e.g. Sleater-Kinney - The Woods).

man why the lack of replies in this thread? I mean yeah it's harder to find good new bands than good older ones but cmon I define new as came to rise is the 21st rather than the 20th century so here are my Y2K bands... -Halestorm talk about a kickass female lead! I think they qualify for my Top 5...at least my Top 5 new. 10 years of hard work before going mainstream...don't have much else to say other than they are awesome and talented. - Glasvegas Scottish alt/rock band...they are considered "indie" sometimes but I don't like that term, kinda lame word in general these days, lol. plus they are essentially mainstream, since their debut album is...well...major label. - Gavin Rossdale not new ofc but new as a solo artist. wish bush was still around though... - She Wants Revenge Thank You Shirley! i think theyre coming out with album#3 soon. i also really am loving their new single "Animal Attraction." (only song I will probably ever say this for....but don't listen to it on bass boost, for some reason that seems to mess with the song and it sounds kinda lousy. I think it's b/c SWR is generally bass-heavy to begin with.) - Kaiser Chiefs RubyRubyRubyRuby! Just too catchy, had to download the entire album. -Hinder epitome of sex, drugs rocknroll. supposedly. seems people either love em or hate em. they are either an epic rock band or a load of pervs who make a bunch of money singing about pointless crap and love to get wasted and they party too much. anyone who says the latter... isn't that kinda what RocknRoll was supposed to represent from the start? - Theory of a Deadman I know a lot of people also think they are a bunch of mainstream phonies with no talent...or whatever else people don't like about these guys. Go back to your Pussycat Dolls and Kelly Clarkson then, cuz they're not mainstream phonies at all... - Eric Avery's new album - The Bravery - Brad Sucks ..not! - Flyleaf - Anna Nalick great voice, great guitar, deep lyrics, sexy&talented!! but wtf is up with the 2 year delay on the second album?! :/ There are others but they are bordering on not being "new music."

I don't know how new she is but...I love St. Vincent , her new album Actor is great, I would recommend her stuff to anyone. She's a mix of whimsical indie rock with great twisted lyrics.

Wasn't much of a fan of the album, but 'Actor Out of Work' is easily my favorite video this year thus far. Also didn't like La Roux's first two singles, but "Bulletproof" is excellent.

I quite like Hinder. I usually get a lot of shit for it too, unless the person hasn't heard of them. They are dirty rock and roll, and I disagree with a lot of what they sing about, but the songs are fun and lighthearted so they are cool to listen to. I don't really listen to anything new... I have a select few favorite bands and I generally have them on repeat most of the time. I have been spinning P!NK's new album "Funhouse" recently though.

I've noticed that a lot of the lyrics could considered misogynistic but women seem to like those types of bands. If a guy said he likes his hands around your neck you'd knee him in the junk but since it's Chad from Nickleback it's okay. So if you're not offended I shouldn't be either? I guess it's like that Chris Rock bit about how women will dance to the nastiest, most disgusting rap songs ever. "If the beat is tight she'll dance all night".

Why is it cool for Britney Spears to sing about a Womanizer as she whores herself around camera? Kinda lost my respect for her at that point. Yet I know so many girls who actually like her. I could go on but I'll stop here. Anyway I guess if it's someone like Austin Winkler being "misogynistic" or whatever else you want to call it... there's an attraction factor that cancels it out? idk, in any case if you listen to his lyrics it also seems the trashiness for the most part is a two-way street, if that makes sense.

Generally speaking I do take offense at some of the lyrics of "dirty rock and roll," such as Hinder and Nickelback, etc. The way they demoralize women is not a trait that I would want in a man. Having said that, I can appreciate the dirtiness of the songs and listen to them when I'm feeling saucy. And no, I don't think a guy should be offended, but he should know whether his girl appreciates that or not. Real and fantasy, babe.

New music from new bands or just new music in general? Only newish stuff I've been listening to is Spinnerette and YYYs. Newish band my friend got me into is Yves Klein Blue. They're a band from Brisbane, they aren't new new, they've been around for a little while but their first album came out June/July. Seen them live twice, great band live, def. a little different to some other live bands. Can go from dancing your arse off one minute and getting pretty emotional the next.
