Well as the title suggests, I would love to get some opinions from you guys. I am taking a road trip to Las Vegas in the later part of May with my fiance and another couple. I was wondering if any of you guys that have been to Vegas have any suggestions such as hotels to stay, shows to see, or places to eat, or other things to do. We are also going to go to the Grand Canyon either a day while we are there or when we head back home. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention we are driving, not flying, from Dallas and back.
So I would appreciate any and all suggestions and opinions. Thanks! ;D

Go to the Hard Rock even if you don't gamble there just to see the memorabilia. The M&Ms store is a neat place too.

Freemont street is cool in vegas, hard rock is cool its off the strip but a cool place, Check out the canals at the Venetian , Honestly just cruise the strip its all down there and thats where it is all happening.
Things to see along the way are the painted desert and petrified forrest in new mexico, carlsbad caverns, meter crater by the grand canyon, the grand canyon, hoover dam. Ive done this road trip then there are the million odds and ends along the way that have there signs up all over creation.

Actually, right now is one of the best times to go.
Most hotels are having killer deals on rooms, especially if you are coming mid-week. I think New York-New York is offering rooms for $49 a night. Poke around some of the casino websites, some also have package deals where you get a room, dinner for two, $20 in slot play and a free visit to the spa.
Staying on the strip is convenient. There are a few hotels I would not recommend staying at (Excalibur, Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Flamingo Hilton) because they are much, much older and kinda nasty. The Hard Rock is a few blocks east of the strip, and pretty cool, but they're undergoing a massive expansion right now, and parking is a nightmare.
If I could choose, I'd stay at Mandalay Bay or THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay. Both are swanky, but at the south end of the strip. You might consider staying somewhere like Paris or Caesars, as that's the middle of the strip and convienient to everything.
As far as things to do: several rollercoasters (Sahara, New York New York, the Stratosphere Tower. Stratosphere also has a nice restaraunt at the top. There's free stuff to do everywhere (live lions at the MGM, the volcano explosion at the Mirage, the Bellagio fountains)
Basically, I was born and raised here, so if you have any questions or want any more advice, let me know.

Just and FYI: Well guys we never got to go cause the other couple backed out and so we couldn't afford it but now me and my fiance are going by ourselves. We just graduated college and decided to use our grad gift money and go to Vegas as a last treat before we have to get jobs and become adults (haha). So this time we are flying (my first time), and leave next Tues. morning. I am so excited and will consider all of the previous suggestions. We are staying at the Luxor and I am most looking forward to eating at the Bellagio buffet. W.H.i.V.S.i.V

The famous las vegas sign is pretty much going to be infront of your hotel. That is somethng to do. Actually I think it is infront of madalat bay luxor happens to be next to mandalay bay. Just cruise the strip its a crazy ass thing.

My sister is a travel agent in Vegas. I could have gotten you a sweet package. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Dammit Dan you should have told me!!! Actually we got a pretty good deal since we are going in the middle of the week.
Chris that's cool because I really wanted to see the sign but I thought it was kinda out of town away from the strip.

Best suggestion I have is to walk the strip. We did it from Mandalay Bay down to Treasure Island. Going in just about every hotel to check them out. Back and forth across Las Vegas Blvd. It was a trip. Saw the fountains at and the volcano and the TI show.

Brit, next time you go let me know. Vegas isn't really a first honeymoon type of town if you know what I mean. So I doubt you'll be back there for that.
