The thread title doesn't make a lot of sense, but what I mean is this. I've noticed that in many songs, Shirley adds a little something to the end that is not present on the album. For example, at the end of "When I Grow Up," she says "how you like me best, you'll let me know." Also, she sings the "rap" part at the end of "Supervixen," which as we all know is faintly in the background on the album but is overpowered by "bow down to me." So anyway, the point of this thread is for us to make a list of the songs in which she does this kind of thing, since I noticed it on multiple songs while watching live videos. Go.

I've no time to make a complete list.. but she did it prominently and regularly in Vow, Not My Idea, Stupid Girl, Trip My Wire, Special and You Look So Fine.

Nice question I think she did it in Supervixen, Fix Me Now, My Lover's Box, Stupid Girl, Girl Don't Come... and sometimes in the 1995-96 tour she added shouted lyrics at the end of Vow saying something like "I feel upset"...

oh you might find this helpful:
'Only Happy When It Rains" - 'Singing In The Rain'
"Not My Idea" - ad-libs from Talking Heads 'Once In A Lifetime', Bob Marley's 'No Woman No Cry' and New Order's 'Temptation'
"Vow" - ad-libs from Patti Smith's 'Revenge', Marianne Faithfull's 'Why D'Ya Do It?', The Beatles 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road', Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain', Cole Porter's 'Let's Do It', Bright Eyes' 'Lover I Don't Have To Love' and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Mystery Girl' and 'Maps'.*
"Special" - ad-libs from The Pretenders 'Kid'
"Trip My Wire" - ad-libs from Junior Parker's 'Mystery Train' and Little Richard's 'Good Golly Miss Molly'.*
"Stupid Girl" - ad-libs from Spice Girls 'Wannabe' and Britney Spears 'Baby... One More Time'.*
"Parade" - ad-libs from Missy Elliot's 'Get Ur Freak On'.
Songs "A Stroke Of Luck", "Queer" and "You Look So Fine" also regularly featured ad-libs but so far, no-one has worked out what they were. Indeed for one 1999 YLSF ad-lib, many fans argue over what the words were, never mind where they came from!
"Supervixen" - not an ad-lib but yes the secret lyrics up until the BLM tour were sung live (which I hate that they dropped!!).
"Silence Is Golden" - live renditions particularly from the Version 2.0 tour had different verse structures that featured on the recorded version.

Nice question Thank you. And thanks for the lists guys. I'm sorry she stopped doing it on "Supervixen" as well. That was the best part! It's been so long since I actually sang the "bow down to me" at the end of the song. I can only hear the "rap" part now, hah.

It wasn't until I saw them live in Wolverhampton in 2002 I realised there were secret lyrics! Now I can hear them in the background every time I hear it!

"Special" - ad-libs from The Pretenders 'Kid' <-----is there a recording of this one?? Yeh pretty much any Special performance from late 1999. The easiest one to get hold of would be the Tucson performance. She sings the lines "Kid, what changed your mood, you've gone all sad, now I feel sad too, I think I know what you're about" I remember her singing these lines at Edinburgh 1/7/99 show, but I forgot all about it until I heard her sing the lines on the Tucson and Bren Center shows. Now its one of my fave Pretenders songs, and it was one of the songs Shirley sang with them in 2006 (But it wasnt broadcast)

The one I love is the "great chasm in this pin-sized space, soemthing god-forsaken place" from You Look So Fine in 99
Others I can think of "It was meant for me, it was meant for you" in ONE Queer from 98 "I hear ya howl at the moon" in a few "Vow"s
And what is she sings in the Roskilde "Dumb"? Something "boy" in the chorus.
And I loove that she sang "my head's on fire" for the BG "Push It"s

Bad Boyfriend, anyone? She performed the lyrics backwards in many instances while touring for BLM.
"I wanna hear you burn up in flames, I wanna see you call out my name..." instead of "I wanna hear you call out my name, I wanna see you burn up in flames..."

I'm sure I have a '99 show. I just have so many that I haven't listened to them all yet. Hahaha!

I don;t think Shirley messing up/mixing up the lyrics quite count for this thread, although there are some subtle changes that may merit mention. For example: I love the TFI Friday YLSF "I want to take you home, and break your heart". Or the #1 Crush in Paris 05 "And... I... I would...." outro, or the Las Vegas one where she says each line with no pause. Both outros have a really great dynamic compared to the usual performances.
