Last night was Gabrage's second to last show in Australia. It was at the Adelaide Festival Theatre, where I was lucky enough to get front row seats. The opening act were grea, but the whole time I was just thinking about Garbage. This was the second Garbage show I've been to, the first was October 7, 1999 and I was only 9.
The tour production manager came to the people in the font row and explained that due to the closeness of the first row (OMG it was so close!! We were right in front of the stage, with nothing blocking it and no security in our way), they were considering moving the front row people to another location, but decided not to, so we had to respect the band and not touch anything.
Finally the stage was ready for Garbage. The opening music for Hurt started and three of my friends who came and I stood up. We were the only 4 people standing up at this point. I was worried before the show about standing up, but I was just too excited to see the band to care. The lights slowly started to go out and the entire audience stood up. It was practically full, besides the last few rows at the top area and there were some empty seats.
The lights came on, the band were on stage and everyone was cheering. Shirley started to sing Queer and sounded INCREDIBLE!! I was so excited, because she was so close to me!!
I was planning on writing down the set list but I completely forgot because I was so happy and excited, so the songs may not be in order because I've forgotten the order.
The next song was Bad Boyfriend which was great!!!
Then there was a fuck up with the sound and Shirley got really pissed and was so funny!!
The highlight of the show for me was Boys Wanna Fight. On the second verse, Shirley had one foot on the speaker and one foot on the stage and bent over and looked at me right in the face and sung!! I was singing along with her, but I was so happy, I wanted to scream!! I did though when the song was over.
After this song, Shirley was saying how much she loved Adelaide and that the name was beautiful.
The next song was Why Do You Love Me and the crowd went nuts, because it was their biggest sigle off Bleed Like Me, here, and the most popular.
Now, in no particular order, they sung:
Stupid Girl
Sex Is Not The Enemy
Vow (Shirley came really close and looked at me again!!)
Bleed Like Me
I Think I'm Paranoid
Push It
Only Happy When It Rains
Cherry Lips
Metal Heart
Shut Your Mouth
#1 Crush
Right Between The Eyes
I was also so happy, because the crowd stood up for the entire show.
The band went off stage and the everyone went nuts. We were stamping our feet and screaming, then they came back on stage to perform the final three songs:
Bleed Like Me
Special
When I Grow Up
I was so happy, because Steve and Duke where looking at me too (okay I am so sad, I get way too excited) and Steve kept on coming close to my friends and I when he played. Then when the concert ended, he ran up to me and gave me.... HIS GUITAR PICK!!!!!
I was so happy and thanked him!! I couldn't believe it!!
The show was a zillion times better than I could have ever dreamed of!! If anyone does come over to see them from another country, they are gonna see a great show at Perth, because this show was just AWESOME!!!
Shirley was great and really got the crowd involved by wanting us to sing along with her, especially in Only Happy When It Rains and When I Grow Up.
If anyone here went to the Adelaide show and can remember the entire set list, please post it and please post pictures!!!
