Fuck you for not letting me nominate Elliot Smith while you yourself nominated Elvis Presley. okay fair enough. *puts foot in mouth*...and *eats it* But honestly I still say Elvis goes under "E" and you probably would to until Pat pointed out is his last name. Elvis was a one name man and everyone knows it.

Actually, I didn't even read Pat's post until later.
And if you know jackshit about Elvis' career, you know that even while he was instantly recognizable as "Elvis" by the public his stage name was never just that one word. He was always billed as "Elvis Presley".
(i'm a big fan of the king. he'll still have my vote for the Ps... well along with Propaghandi... and Pearl Jam... oh wait... do we have to wait for the Js for them?)
Fuck it. I'll nominate Explosions In The Sky. pure musical nirvana I tell you.

that's kinda sad... so much talent in the world going unnoticed... so much attention given to someone like missy fucking elliott... music as art, people. not entertainment.

Missy is pretty fucking talented. So just stop. The woman writes, produces her own music and as well as other peoples music. And she has been pretty damn sucessfull at it. Missy is inventive and orginal with everything she does. She stands out waaaay above of her female and male peers in the rap game. Just because its sounds like noise to you doesn't make any less of art form. Now go pick on someone more deserving on this list like Evan-offense.

this reminds me of the days in which rap actually standed as a raised fist of defiance. revolution. the early gangsta acts, redundant as they were, were pioneers and true visionaries.
missy elliott... what can i say. would probably make a good entertainer at children's parties or high school proms everywhere. not a good musician.
i admire her talent as a producer. can't say the same about her talents as a songwriter...
"When I walk up in the piece I ain't gotta even speak I'm a bad mamajama goddammit motherfucker you ain't gotta like me How you studying these hoes Need to talk what you know And stop talking bout who I'm sticking and licking jus mad it ain't yours I know ya'll poor ya'll broke Ya'll job jus hanging up clothes Step to me get burnt like toast Muthafuckas adios amigos Halves halves wholes wholes I don't brag I mostly boast From the VA to the LA coast Iffy kiffy izzy oh"
huh.
(edit: wait wait wait... i just found this one and thought it was way too funny not to put up:
Let me holla' at the d.j. Come on d.j. put that record on the replay Don't you see how them bitches move they bootay Everytime you play this record, smell like coochie Follow dem',Screamin' like a groupay Misdemeanor move my nookie like a hoochay For them hatas fuck whatever you say Because you know I'm too cool for you anyway I'm just a bad bitch M-I-S,Miss I'm gonna' keep talkin' shit till you get this I'm gonna' bust up in the club wit' no guest list Them otha' artist, I keep em' all restless I don't french kiss unless it's 50 cent Vivica,we can share him like the president Tabloids,I don't care,it's irrelevant,I'm heaven sent Now watch how I do this shit
I'm really, really hot Everytime my records drop Radio says I won't stop Cus' I'm killin' em'"

HA! Yeah, and lets see ya rap that? You'd get outta breath. Hell the woman even sings her raps backwards. Rap doesn't have to be just the content. It has to do with flow and execution. Her style is that of old school...Run DMC, LL Cool J, Grand Master Flash etc. etc. If you are going to deny her then you need to deny all her predessesors.

read the top of my post.
it's context.
Run DMC, LL Cool J, Grand Master Flash= visionaries missy elliott= clown.
and yeah, i probably couldn't rap like that. also i can't play a john petrucci guitar solo, but that doesn't mean dream theater are any less pretencious and over-the-top.
... pretencious and over-the-top... i guess the same could be applied to missy elliott, huh?
