You Can Count On Me (2000)Directed by Kenneth Lonergan Genre: Drama Plot: A lot happens at once to Sammy, a single mom living in the Catskill town of her birth, where her parents died in a car crash when she was small. Her son Rudy, who's 8, begins imagining his unseen father as a hero; she picks up, sort of, with last year's boyfriend; she gets a new boss who imposes foolish rules; and, her wayward brother Terry arrives for a visit after months of no communication. The boyfriend proposes, the relationship with her boss takes an unexpected turn, and her brother and son bond, not always with positive consequences. When Terry asks young Rudy if he wants to meet his father, a crisis of sorts ensues, and brother and sister must re-frame their relationship. Cast: Laura Linney....Samantha 'Sammy' Prescott Mark Ruffalo....Terry Prescott Rory Culkin....Rudy Prescott soo good soo good. I love the brother in that film. He kind of reminds me of myself. Matthew Broderick was hilarious too. very good film. shoulda put that one on my list.

Trainspotting (1995) Starring: Renton: Ewan McGregor Spud: Ewen Bremner Sick Boy: Jonny Lee Miller Tommy: Kevin McKidd Begbie: Robert Carlyle Plot Synopsis A wild, freeform, Rabelaisian trip through the darkest recesses of Edinburgh low-life, a group of disaffected Scottish youths turn to heroin to escape the banalities of modern-day existence. Then, they begin to suffer the consequences and discover that there are no easy solutions to the inherent loneliness and pain of life. Focusing on Mark Renton and his attempt to give up his heroin habit, and how the latter affects his relationship with family and friends: Sean Connery wannabe Sick Boy, dimbulb Spud, psycho Begbie, 14-year-old girlfriend Diane, and clean-cut athlete Tommy, who's never touched drugs but can't help being curious about them. While the frequent, non-judgmental use of drugs, riotous brutality, extreme profanity, and thick northern Scottish accents that characterise these slices from the lives of a grungy group of aimless, largely hopeless middle-class drug addicts may make the film hard for many viewers to relate to, others will find it a right-on view of modern urban life.

James Cameron, 1989, U.S.A. starring Ed HARRIS - Mary-Elizabeth MASTRANTONIO - Michael BIEHN Post cold war context. Workmen in an underwater petrol station witness strange phenomenons due to undefined beings, but can't define from where they come or if they're hostile. They all think the Russians are after them. The movie is a tale about peace and love among the human species.
