You snob! I can't get enough of those American true life stories...they're FAR stranger than fiction...

They are like watching the evening news. 1% truth, and 99% opinion and fiction made up to make the weak watch even more.

BULLSHIT. Watch Small Sacrifices about Diane Downs who shot her three children because her lover didn't want to be their daddy. Disturbing, thought-provoking and utterly compelling. And as for the acting..I promise you you'll never look at Farah Fawcett the same way again. She is excellent.

OH...I'm talking about the true life ones with murders. Frequently inter-family murders. They're the best...

I love reading mystery books. Right now I am towards the end of "The Last Coyote" by Michael Connelly.
The story about the mom killing her three kids sounds pretty sad. Why would a woman take a man over her own kids? Let alone kill them, or abandon them?

Well the "why" is the most interesting question. She was probably a sociopath...no conscience..just faking human emotions..oblivious to others feelings...only guided by her own desires. There was also evidence of sexual abuse by her father when her mother worked nightshifts. How that shaped her character we can only surmise. Diane Downs was a really intelligent woman too...she escaped from a high security jail after she was convicted...but was caught weeks later.

My ex left me to raise my kids after she ran off with the neighbor. She tried to get back together with me after 5 years, and he put her in the hospital twice. They forgave her, and now live with her. But she got what she deserved from that guy for leaving her kids behind.

Well leaving children behind is unimaginable to me. They must have missed her terribly and it must have been rough on you too. But I can't ever defend a man physically assaulting a woman...let alone saying that "she deserved it". Having said that I'm sure that the guilt she feels over leaving them will haunt her for the rest of her life....I just don't like society judging women who leave children more harshly than men who do it much more frequently and think it's socially acceptable because they're men.

The only reason whty I said she deserved it, was she knew he was a woman beater. She watched him beat up his ex-girlfriend, and still left with him because he said he would "change".

Well..these men can be very charismatic I believe. Constantly painting the abused one as "nagging", "clingy" or saying "she's as bad as me...she provokes me." And don't we all give those we are attracted to the benefit of the doubt? It's not just men who fall for the pretty face over what's inside...women can be just as shallow.

I have known a lot of pretty women, and a few were so ugly on the inside that it almost turned my stomach. Yet others were almost more beautiful on inside that out, if that is possible.

appropos of nothing (is that how you spell it?) My sister was bleeding from the ear before. I told her three times that we ought to go to Casualty/Trauma? but she said it was probably nothing...I mean the blood wasn't pouring out, there was just a smidgen. Still I always thought that bleeding from the ear meant that you were having a brain haemorrage. I shall check on her hourly during the night. What else can I do? Anyway we're going out for a drive now to take her mind of it...I'll probably be back later (insomnia...) Ta ta for now...
