I went to high school with Roxy Erickson (Duke's daughter). She was in the high school play right before the self titled came out. As she came onto stage down a big spiral stair case I heard the most wonderful voice ever...Shirley...singing the " doo doo doot doot doo" part of Queer. I leaned over to my friend and said "I really like this music," and she said "me too...I think this is her dad's band" as she pointed at Roxy. I was hooked, and when the cd came out I ran out and bought it.

I remember I hated Garbage when I first saw them/heard of them... I think it was at the MTV Awards and I just HATED that chick with the pink featherboa... to my defence I have to say I was about 13 back then...! Later I bought the Romeo&Juliet soundtrack and looooooooooooved #1 Crush... so desperate, so beautiful... and I remembered Milk, which I kinda liked as well and that was when I asked a friend who owned s/t if she could make me a copy of the song and she recommended to take the whole album because she thought it was rather brilliant... And from that day I've been hooked... *sighs* ;D ;D ;D

I remember I saw the Special video when the single came out, but I got into Garbage with Push It in the NHL 2000 intro...

I remember I hated Garbage when I first saw them/heard of them... I think it was at the MTV Awards and I just HATED that chick with the pink featherboa... I always loved that boa... Anyway, I remember when they won the breakthrough award on MTV awards, was that in 96? Or 95? Anyway, I remember keeping my fingers crossed that Garbage would win and then they did. But when they went up on stake the camera stayed on Shirley and I thought she looked so angry and creepy. She looked like she didn't care at all. She didn't even crack a smile. I thought she was the creepiest, weirdest woman on the face of the planet, so when I first became a fan I didn't really like her. I just liked her voice. If I'd met her back then I would have ran away screaming, I was terrified of her. But as I started reading about them and finding out things about her I had to change my mind... Now I think she's the most amazing woman I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. @nette
