Tell me Where It Hurts has been C-listed on the UK's biggest radio station. A C-list spot will guarantee 5 plays a week (this isn't much but can increase!) www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/r2music/playlist/#clistAccording to someone at UKMIX, TMWIH is going for Australian radio adds this week HOW IS THE PLAYLIST SELECTED? The Playlist Committee, made up of producers and chaired by Jeff Smith, Head of Music Radio 2, meet each week to decide which new releases will be added to the station's playlist. The playlist contains about 30 tracks which are divided into three levels: A list, which receive the most plays, about 20 each week; B list 10 plays and the C list around 5 plays. The Radio 2 playlist is one of the most varied of any radio station in the UK and can include albums as well as singles. Before any CD can be considered for inclusion it must be commercially available.

well I am pleasantly surprised garbage is getting some attention, i realistically didn't think tell me where it hurts would fit on today's radio, we'll see how program managers react to the new song. still waiting to see if it impacts at all in the US.
Though I am wondering, do you think garbage at the very least will do a few interviews to promote absolute garbage, things have been quiet on the band members parts, hopefully they will do a few print and radio interviews.

I am desperate to get a AG-era interview. I'm constantly scanning Music Week and the music section in Borders for anything.

Radio 1 won't add it, but C-list on Radio 2 in its first week isn't bad. Hopefully it can move up!

Why won't radio 1 add it?
And the video was released and played twice this weekend in OZ.

Why won't radio 1 add it? Probably cos it's a bit too middle of the road, but I wouldn't discount it completely. Sometimes the fascist suits at radio 1 surprise us.

Y'know the C list actually has better songs than either the A or B lists (bar Travis & Gwen), Razorlight, The Fray & GARBAGE

If you haven't already, I'd recommend setting up a Google Alert for "Garbage Shirley Manson." I have a couple of alerts set up for work stuff and it's amazing what links I get emailed to me! Should save you some work

Radio One haven't playlisted Garbage again this week... not that I'm surprised but they even C-listed Androgyny back in the day.
I'm keeping myself aware that Radio One isn't the biggest radio station in the Uk any longer, and that MTV and VH1 play is more important than Radio One airplay. WDYLM still went top 10 with a C-list from Radio One.

Look, even when WDYLM was the most played rock song in the UK for 6 weeks, WDYLM was never above C list in the UK. I know back in the day they used to be A-LISTED, but you can't expect much these days. They are becoming increasingly urban, I notice (not as bad as the US, though).

The A list in LA will get at least 24 plays a day. Usually more per station. Too bad there is only one progressive rock station in LA these days. KROQ. Back n the 70's, and 80's there was at least 4 playing ne stuff out here. Now one went progressive jazz (was KMET) KTWV (The Wave), KLOS is still playing what they used to back then. KEZY went somewhere I am not sure. But LA, the third largest radio audience in the world. Finally got a new station, but 75% are classic rock played there, that is JackFM. So Garbage is fucked in LA if KROQ doesn't play them.

KROQ hasn't played Garbage in years. You may see one of their "golds" appear every so often, but not one of their 2000s singles has been playlisted.

Did a lot of driving this weekend. CT rock station (no idea which one) mentioned AG after playing OHWIR on Saturday; WFNX in Boston played ITIP and spoke for 15 seconds or so about the upcoming greatest hits album on Sunday. Neither played TMWIH, however.
