OMG.
That's all I can say really. For years, (and with very green eyes!) I've read threads about these awesome US shows where all manner of shit happens, but never believed I'd ever see one!
The set was mad, they played mostly 95-05 stuff. Too funny when Shirley forgot the words to WIGU and the band totally confused her by continuing to play when she asked them to start again, so the whole song just became a repeat of the chorus and bridge (with a few f bombs thrown in for good measure!)
Highlight was definitely Duke serenading the crowd to close.
For me, the whole thing was exactly what I had dreamed of for 7 years 5 months and one day* - I was in the front row, knew every word to every song and how Shirley tends to sing it live, and they played my all time fave, 'Cup of Coffee'. There were a couple of times in the show when Shirl came over to where I was standing, bent over and looked me straight in the eye when she sang. Duke also gave me one of his guitar picks at the end of the show.
But the best bit by far was at the end of the show when the band came out and graciously signed autographs, posed for photos and chatted with fans. And for the first time ever, I came face to face with Shirley, who called me her "little party girl".
Numbers 1 and 2 on my bucket list have now been checked - met Shirley Manson, and got all 4 band members to sign my colour 'in print' (which I still check to make sure that it really happened, and I didn't just dream it, again!)
* - The reason I remember the date was that the last show in Melbourne in 2005 fell on my 23rd birthday
