OH Shirley Manson is hosting TWO U2 showswww.u2gigs.com/....Secondly, U2 will be staying in the US to make three more special appearances from the 9th to the 11th of March. FMQB Productions and Interscope records are presenting a "radio extravaganza" called "U2 3 Nights Live" that will be broadcast via satellite on ABC Satellite Services and Westwood One. These three appearances will be:
9 March: live from Los Angeles, "An Inside Look At No Line On The Horizon", hosted by Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage.
10 March: live from Chicago, "Radio Takeover" featuring a DJ set by U2 and again hosted by Shirley Manson.
11 March: live from Boston, U2 will play live and answer audience questions. Host is yet to be announced.
All three appearances will occur at 9-10pm US eastern time on their respective days. Chicago radio station 101.9 FM The Mix have announced a competition to see U2 live on the 10th - indicating U2's appearance may be more than just a DJ set. See here; opportunities to win tickets will be at 10:20am, 11:20am, and 1:20pm weekdays and this will apparently be the only way to see the band. Meanwhile, New York's 101.9 RXP has indicated listeners will have chances to see the gig on the 11th in Boston, while Boston radio stations are advising listeners to tune in on Monday for an announcement (e.g. 104.1 WBCN at 7:15am; 100.7 WZLX at 7:20am).
Exciting times are ahead. We will naturally bring you more news as soon as we have it. As an aside, the appearances on the 9th and 10th of March won't be the first time U2 have shared a stage with Shirley Manson. Garbage opened sone Elevation Tour concerts, and at the last show of the tour, Larry joined them during their set. (http://www.u2gigs.com/show1485.html)I wonder if I can listen in? I'd love to hear what Shirley has to say. I also don't see why Shirley can't do the third one as well. Shirley should try and get herself roped into doing vocals on a U2 single. That would send her profile stratospheric. EDIT I just noticed on that U2 gig website, that U2 performed a bit of TWINE in Madison, never knew that! (http://www.u2gigs.com/show1095.html)

Seems like they are very much mutual fans of each other! Too bad the radio stations aren't in Ireland so I could conveniently hang around the studio and happen to bump into her...

Is it wrong that I would go just to see Shirley & not U2? Can't stand them. What I've heard of the new album sounds pish.

Wouldn't it be funny if the only people who won tickets were crazed Garbage / Shirley fans who didn't give two rips about U2!

Is there anyone who can record these from the broadcasts, or knows links to listen to the channels on streaming audio? Or do I have to start scraping around and joining U2 Forums for the next month? haha

Q101 (another Chicago radio station) just let it slip that the event will be taking place at Smart Bar, right next to Metro. If you've seen the Absolute Garbage DVD, you'll recognize Metro as the place where "the Garbage story all began." Let the "bumping into" commence!
