My thoughts, also, are with Shirley's family and friends, as well as anyone that had the privilege of knowing Muriel.

Sad news indeed. I'm sure she was a great mother...she gave us Shirley! Anyone want to track down a way for fans to send a card or something?

Prob best be "Care of" The T:SCC production office, or Gayle Fine at Q Prime.
I don't have the addresses handy but if you google for a while you might find soemthing usable.

very sad. shirley talked about her mother i interviews quite a lot over the years. i've heard her talk about how it was her mother's singing that first made her love music. i remember her saying what a calming effect her mother had on her post BG when she was unsure about her career.
i feel really bad for her father, john. i can't imagine what it must feel like to lose your partner of(i'm assuming)40 - 50 years. and with dementia involved...having that person you love not know who you are? heartbreaking.

What do you think "complications from dementia" means?! I mean, dementia alone does not kill you.

I asked my friend who is a carer nurse about that. He said it's a pretty vague statement, but is used when privacy is wanting to be spared - it could mean she became ill through her own actions, caused by dementia, such as causing an injury to herself which she couldn't recover from.
That's what happened to my aunt in 2001, she was being treated for soemthing which involved being connected to oxygen tubes, and kept ripping themk out when she was alone not understanding what they were for. She was discovered doing so a few times, but the last time wasn't discovered quick enough and her body went into shock which the doctors couldn't treat and she passed away.

Yeah, I was talking to my mom & she said it could allude to a grave fall or some similar injury. Also, there's THIS branch of dementia which involves hallucinations, often causing patients to harm themselves: www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/DS/00795.html
