Well....we ALL know Mariah Carey will be on top....and hoping Faith Evans' new album and 50 cent starts to hype down, that Garbage could at least conjure up a top 10 hit.....I really think that they will hit at LEAST number 9 on the charts, with maybe a 80K+ units for the week. I think Mudvayne will get about 60-70K and drop off, and Story Of The Year? From what I remember, they were making a new record and talking about lyrics this last week....so I am totally not sure of that.
But remember, Green Day, Now That What I Call Music, 50 cent, Faith Evans, Mariah Carey, Beck, and a few other artists up there...they will get a top stop because there fan base is more broad than Garbage, Garbage has the older fans including some new ones.
So my belief is that at least a top 10 hit...and hoping that the new single goes well, that it should hover in the top 50 for months.

what the fuck does Beck have over Garbage? 6 months ago no one gave 2 shits about him. If it sells 80k it should be Top 6-8. I really don't know anyone who would buy a Mudvayne album or anyone that even knows they exist so I really don't believe they are going to sell a lot, despite what anyone says. I wish I didn't give a shit how the album did, but I do, and I'm pretty uptight about it.

I think as long as you like the album, it doesn't matter if grammy nods or chart hits are in Garbage's future, if you like the album, I think all that should matter...rather than worry about chart debuts or radio spns. I love the album no matter what reviewer says about it, or how many sold, I rather sit in my car or computer chair and listen to the album, and enjoy it, rather worry about it's success.
Sure I would like for them to be successful, but that shouldn't be all about Garbage.

Here's how my feelings about it's success have been:
pre-WDYLM: from 2003 until early 2005 I hoped very much it would do well but had my doubts
when WDYLM first hit: since it had such an amazing start, suddenly it seemed like the sky was the limit.
when WDYLM seemed like it peaked suddenly (mid March): I was disappointed and felt maybe it wasn't going to do so well
when WDYLM picked up again (late March-Early April): Between the high Australian and UK debuts and a new peak position in the US, I felt very confident that it would have a very strong opening week and felt confident it would be a platinum plus seller by the end of the year.
Today: Really good until I saw HDD and then read Zach's stuff and now I feel like throwing up kind of.
Basically, I'm completely influenced by how the song/album vibe is going on that particular day...if WDYLM has a really bad day or someone says something really disheartening, suddenly my whole outlook shifts. But then, if something really good happens, I am completely reconvinced it will be big.
Which proves nothing. Basically, I make predictions based on my daily emotional state and not looking at the bigger picture, and that's not good.

I know it shouldn't matter, and for any other band, I couldn't give a fuck, but for some reason, I really care. I think it's because I know that the band really cares and I don't want them to be let down.

I think it's because I know that the band really cares and I don't want them to be let down. Of course Garbage cares what position they will be in on BB or any other chart, but so does all bands. I think the more worrying you do, the more dissapointed you will become. So keep it cool, Garbage should do fine.

Some artists I like never do well in the US, like Kylie, and that makes me sad, but I get over it. With Garbage, though, it's WAY more personal.

I just tend to worry about one thing at a time for awhile obsessively and the move on, and I guess right now, this is it.

I just wouldn't worry at all about it, I mean, this album almost never happened at all, so we should be VERY thankful at least we see a comeback from a band we thought we lost forever.

well to be fair, we didn't KNOW we almost lost them until recently. True, but we shouldn't add pressure to this. Even if they actually did break up, we still wouldn't of known about it....all in all, the album will do fine, whether whatever position they make on the charts, they got rave reviews (moreso then bad ones), and certainly new audiences are buying the album for a whole new generation to listen to them. So we all need to breathe deeply...and exhale....

to be completely honest, if jimmy eat world's new album can go gold, bleed like me can and should too. that new JEW album is fucking crap, dude. i mean i like... ONE song on the whole album. it's the first album in ages that i actually fully regret buying. despite loving the band i actually told people not to buy it. because it blows.
(and this is coming from a huge jimmy eat world fan)
BLM has a bunch of songs that are pretty good and a few great ones. it should do fine and i'm sure if they tour and they sell out venues and the album does decent the first week you'll get another garbage album in the future.

i liked pain for like 10 minutes, because it was the "new jimmy eat world song" and i was so excited to get some new JEW music that i didn't even pay attention to the song, i just got so excited about it and was all WOOOOOO YAY.
and then i actually listened to it and found myself drowned in mediocrity. "work" is the only song on that album that i like, and technically i adore it because i suppose i can relate to it and i think it's an incredibly crafted song.
and even that was somewhat ruined for me when i saw the band's vision for it in the video, which featured high schoolers in wisconsin bitching about the SAT's and how scary growing up is, when in reality "work" is about relationships at the office. so that was a downer.
just a really bad album. especially when they tried to get political on "futures"... i mean fucking christ. you're jimmy eat world. don't get political, please. because no one gives a shit.

I was disappointed with Pain, as well. I really liked their last album, as well as Clarity, but this album was horrendous. No surprise there; most band's creative juices run dry after one album; if you can make two great album's in a row, you're a rare treat. There's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that BLM will go gold, so long as they continue touring. If they do indeed release a third single, it could very well go platinum. RBR or SINTE would work VERY well on radio.
I say at least 100K units first week. The promoting has really picked up quickly, and is superior to BG's promotion in every way possible.

I got other crap going on to worry about than how G is going to do. I think they'll be okay. I agree with you about Mudvayne. When did they get popular all of a sudden? To borrow what Butt-Head said about Twisted Sister, Mudvayne are "fat guys in clown make-up". I don't think Garbage should have a problem kicking those third-rate Slipknot wannabe's asses.
