Butch said: I just saw Shirl last weekend, she's been working on a solo album that got sidetracked because of her TV show, but she's starting to write again. We're going to get together in a few weeks to work on a new song, so we'll see what happens. As far as a NEW Garbage album, at the moment we've all been doing our own thing, BUT in the back of our minds we've always left open the possibility of doing another album and tour. Some of my favorite songs Garbage recorded were the slow, dark songs...and I've mentioned before that I'd like to do a "Bummer" record...Leonard Cohen meets Mazzy Star...and then do a tour that's stripped down, almost "unplugged". I don't want to speak for the rest of the band, because once we get in a room together, there's no telling which way the muse will blow us!As usual the majority of questions relate to Greed Day, Pumpkins and Nirvana but a few of the more specific Garbage-related questions and answers threads I've noticed (Chris / Axis is gonna have a heart-attack when he reads these, this area is his love): Butch recommends a book Shirley loves www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/399899-kill-your-friends.htmlButch's publishing company is that Vibecrusher company from the album credits www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/399283-hopper.htmlMain Garbage thread: www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398209-garbage.htmlBeatlesesque "Special" www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398174-beatlesque.html"Bad Boyfriend" patches www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398126-butch-vig-gearslut.htmlVersion 2.0 in 5.1 Audio www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398851-surround-sound.html (I would love to hear that if they had done it) "Parade" intro www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398253-living-hero-mine.html"Temptation Waits" outro www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398471-recording-tape-vs-pro-tools.htmlScott Hull's genius contribution to "Supervixen" www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/399076-supervixen.html"I Think I'm Paranoid" bridge vocals www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/399623-i-think-im-paranoiiid.html"Push it" love www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/398822-push.html (BB is gonna post a screen of the tracksheet from Push It) "Nobody Loves You" fan remix www.gearslutz.com/board/q-butch-vig/399557-hip-hop-version-nobody-loves-you.html (I quite like it) I love this quote from Billy Bush: "I feel that both the first two albums did have an impact on how pop music was made and neither really get the credit for it" on the subject of Version 2.0 being the first ProTools edited album to be nominated for nAlbum of the Year Grammy. TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN.

Today has been a really fantastic day... watching Garbage videos all day, and now I'm reading all of Butch's posts. I know it's not an absolutely confirmed thing, but my hope is even more renewed with what Butch said! GARBAGE FOREVER!
That was lame, but I'm excited.

I just asked if there was a chance of Garbage ever releasing their "archives," like unreleased songs & demos, if any exist. Smashing Pumpkins are in the process of doing this and many other artists are too; and I *know* all us hardcore fans would love it. Dunno if the moderators will post my question, but here's hoping!

oh wow! Thanks for finding this!!! I'll have to put a couple questions out there YES!!! I got my question through the moderators. I was worried they might (correctly) sniff that I was a Garbage fan who only registered last night to ask a Garbage question I notice someone else has asked what Butch thinks of Shirley in T:SCC. Hopefully Butch or Billy will answer my question>>>> Fingers crossed they reply!

Paul, thanx for the question about demos, that's what I've been thinking about today. That would be just great. And spanks for the thread) P.S. Btw, about the secret that Shirl told you on Famous Scots - was it Butch, that mysterious person?

Paul, thanx for the question about demos, that's what I've been thinking about today. That would be just great. And spanks for the thread) P.S. Btw, about the secret that Shirl told you on Famous Scots - was it Butch, that mysterious person? No it wasn't lol! I should admit that when I first found that forum (I was googling for something else I subsequently forgot all about) and I found the Garbage thread, I read the line "getting together next week" as "Garbage is getting together next week" and went absolutely mental, and messaged the first Garbage fan on my MSN, and spent 5 mins raving before re-reading it and realising he didn't say Garbage were reforming at all, but it was Shirl he was referring to. I felt rather sheepish, but it's an understandable mistake to make when you are skimming for info late at night I'm getting the feeling that Shirley's solo work under Geffen and pre T:SCC is dumped Solo Album version 1.0 and the post-T:SCC/Geffen will be the actual Solo Album version 2.0 (pardon the pun). Why? All of the 2006-2007 material, which not only being years old by now and she may feel she's improved since then, and more importantly, will still be under contract to Geffen (unless Shirl has managed to wrestle control of the masters from Geffen as she left) so it's not an out-there-assumption to make. The Geffen thing is also the main reason why I didn't want anyone to post "In the Snow" on the forum when everyone's Firefox can download the audio with the FlashGot add-on. Just in case we get a repeat of the Chris Sheldon/ATGITL incident of 2007.

Billy just replied: He confirm that the original masters are lost! So that was true!!!!
I wrote back (but this has to go through Mods):
Sorry I don't have any! I have a picture of a Smart Studios DAT that has Shirley's handwriting saying "Alien Sex Fiend" and "Sensitive Guy" (whatever song that was!) on it, if that helps track down something
I've read both Shirley and Butch say in the past that the masters were lost. Emily really did an amazing job with what she had to work with then.
Actually Billy, I was gonna try to ask you about some of these things in person, I was one of the pair of crazy fans who was standing behind you at Shirley's Famous Scots thing last month but we bottled out of saying hi (as you were deep in conversation and we don't have it in us to be rude) and almost didn't manage to speak to Shirley either but she gave us 5 mins of our time which was very greatly appreciated!

Smashing Pumpkins are doing something really neat with theirs, by making the archive material part of a fan club only type deal, that way they aren't spending the massive amounts of money to release it to the general public who may not wish to buy it but rather just to their devoted fans. I know that Garbage fans would absolutely love to hear this stuff if it exists.
WELL DONE DUDE!!!
